Something to say for Vintage...

Andre Dawson of the CUBS stole his 300th base, becoming only the 2nd player

with 300 homers, 300 steals, and 2000 hits.

Willy Mays was the other.

Cy Young, age 44, beat the Pirates 1-0 for his 511th and final major league victory.

Something to be said for Vintage. Consider some of the circa 40 year old players still producing. Come on back Hawk!

Why was this "Moved" from the Main Forum?

Andre Dawson is a Marlin now.

Perhaps the quick-triggered Moderator doesn't know that.

And lots herein talking about the Pavano candidacy for the Cy Young Award and have no idea who Cy Young was or when he pitched.

perhaps because this topic has nothing to do with the marlins?

Andre Dawson has to do with the Marlins.

And many herein talk about Pavano's candidacy for the Cy Young award and have no idea who Cy Young was or when he pitched.

I'm sure, Das Texan, these are difficult facts for you to absorb.

i am fully aware that andre dawson is a member of the marlins organization now.

what his accomplishments in 90 have to do with the marlins is beyond me.

what cy young's 511th victory has to do with the marlins is even further beyond me.

Das Texan, nothing has to be very far removed from you to be beyond your reach.

You should not be a Moderator. Definition is inherently "moderate." You are never moderate. I wrote to Admin this morning with my reasons why you should not be a Moderator.

Perhaps if you could write more than your usual single negative sentence we could have some confidence in your sobriety.

Interesting stat. Gotta love the history we have behind us.

Dawson is my favorite ballplayer of all-time.. he is the man. My Andre Dawson memorabilia collection owns all.

He was the third guy to do it, the Great One's father did it as well, he had 332 homers and and 461 steals.

I think an accomplish like that is enough to put a guy in the hall. Only four guys have done it, and two of them are the two greatest players in baseball history. Both Dawson and Bobby Bonds deserve to be enshrined.

for the record i didnt move your silly topic.

and why shouldnt this topic of even been in the marlins forum? cause it involves a current member of the marlins front office.

does that mean that posting stuff about the expos while loria owned them would belong in the marlins forum also?

stop crying like you are all high and mighty. your act wears thin quickly.

ah, didn't see the part about 2,000 hits. Still, Dawson and Bonds belong in the Hall of Fame just for being members of the 300/ 300 club

As much as I hate the Cubs, The Hawk was my favorite player. He is a little known fact about him as well, after his 1987 MVP season he did not have a contract, so he walked into the Cubs front office with a blank check and told the team to pay him what they feel he is worth because he wanted to play for the Cubs so bad. Needless to say, the underpaid him incredably, but he did not bitch or say anything bad about the organization...he even stayed for some years, then to Boston then to Flordia.

The only think that recently upset me about him, was when the Fish were in town to play the Cubs he sang the 7th inning stretch (as stupid as that thing is). He was wearing a Cubs hat and jersey, but never said "root, root, root, for the Cubbies" which was good of him.

Viva La Hawk!

here's a question re: Andrew Dawson:

If he goes into the Hall, which team should he go in with, Cubs or Expos?

Hard question, but it's gotta be Chi-Town

-5 time All-Star with them

-won NL MVP with the Cubs

-Put up better stats in a shorter time period with the Cubs
