Whew! I guess the devil you know is better than the one you don't in this case, but I would of liked to see the franchise keep their options open should someone big become available over the winter. McKeon was great, but he showed both the very best and the very worst that can happen when a manager overmanages and plays a gut feeling too much.

The 1997 team most likely would have won the World Series with or without Leyland, while on the other hand the 2003 squad had absolutely no chance without Jack.

After all, this was a team of all-stars, and they loitered around for the first 2/3rds of the year and ended up a wildcard team before actually paying attention and winning it all.
