September 24, 200422 yr $8.6mil for violating his contract Mort seems to believe Ricky will file for bankruptsy because he believes Ricky doesnt have this money
September 24, 200422 yr Ricky's going to spend another couple months pretending like he and his kids don't need money, and then all of a sudden when he realizes he can no longer afford the good s***, and he finds himself smoking his buddy's homegrown, Ricky's going to say to himself, "Oh, s***!"
September 24, 200422 yr He's gonna file for bankruptcy so he doesn't have to pay. That, I heard this morning, would also make him a free agent so he could sign with some other team next year...

Meaning that the dolphins, along with everyone else he owed money to before he filed for b-ruptcy would have to settle for cents on the dollar fighting over what was left of Ricky's estate after secured post-petition creditors got their full payback. The judge/trustee will review all of Ricky's finances at the time of filing and determine which contractual obligations are to be nullified. I'm guessing he wouldn't get out of his non-compete and be granted defacto free agency, though.
September 24, 200422 yr they just said on channel 10 that he would be a free agent if he declares bankruptcy. thats f***ing bulls***. i want that bitch to pay and not be able to get back into the league without our say. f***ing faggot. i hate that faggot. i f***ing hate his faggot ass with a passion.

September 25, 200422 yr I don't understand how the Dolphins can get the 8.6 million back and still keep him under contract. But I don't know all the details of something like this, just seems odd to me, I'd think it'd be one or the other.

Yeah, bankruptcy proceedings takes 100% preference over the NFL and its contract. The court would throw out the contract and send the Dolphins to get in line with the other people he owes money to while the big sharks get first shake at Ricky's property and net worth, which unless he pays them in pot I don't think is much.
