Guess I missed something. I thought Tony Taylor was a very popular guy.

And maybe I don't understand how critical a bull-pen coach is.

I would appreciate info' on this firing.

For whatever reason, Loria never seemed to like him - remember when he first bought the team Taylor and Dawson were still being paid by Henry, and they (basically) wouldn't let them near the team?

Actually, it was Dawson and Tony Perez who were still being paid by Henry when Loria came in. I dont really understand the importance of a bullpen coach. They dont really coach the relievers, thats all part of the pitching coach's job, the bullpen coach just answers the phone, keeps track of who warms up and for how long. In fact, the Mets didnt even have a bullpen caoch this year-John Franco did the job.

I don't think it has anything to do with Loria. Beinfest and McKeon make decisions on the coaches.

Ah, yes. Thanks Ross. :thumbup

Tony Taylor is a bullpen coach, yet he never pitched a day in his life, I don't blame the Marlins for letting him go. He's a good guy and knows everything there is to know about baseball, but he's not a good bullpen coach and our horrendous bullpen this year reflected back on him.
