October 19, 200421 yr ...Hee-Seop Choi and Bill Murphy were good finds, but Choi was on his way out anyway... 595682 I'd love to see a source for this one.
October 19, 200421 yr Olsen have put up numbers in pitcher's parks yet rank low as prospects. 595682 I gotta disagree here. Some believe he has the best stuff of any pitcher in the minors. I've seen him in person and I must say he is impressive. Other than that I agree with you though.

October 19, 200421 yr Maybe if the FO were more concerned with getting a stadium they wouldn't have to worry about a leak. Maybe if Loria hired more qualified people than Sampson this wouldn't be a story. There are a lot of maybes' to look for in the Marlins future with this current FO. :banghead

My bad.
October 19, 200421 yr My apologies, TSwift, I had incorrectly read your sentence. It should be noted that the Expos and Marlins' farm systems have slipped under this scouting department. Only part of that is Loria/Samson/Beinfest's willingness to trade those prospects. Allison is a bust. Hutchison, Miller, Andino and Reed have disappointed. Travis Chick was the only player picked past the 10th round to contribute for us. Johnson and Olsen have put up numbers in pitcher's parks yet rank low as prospects. Dontrelle Willis, Hee-Seop Choi and Bill Murphy were good finds, but Choi was on his way out anyway and the Cubs and A's were flooded with pitchign talent. Don Levinski? Josh Karp? Chad Bentz? Justin Wayne? You're actually impressed by this list? Scouting IS important to a small-budget franchise like the Marlins, but I'd hardly say the present staff has helped win any games. 595682 Different GM, but I think the jury is still out on Stokes. Olsen is going to be a big part of our future, when I saw him in Jupiter he impressed me more than Hermida and he was very polished for a young lefty, busting a lot of bats. As for the Montreal stuff: we wanted Wayne and Pavano because Wayne was the first player Loria gave a signing bonus to and Pavano was the first player Loria resigned in Pavano...again, my "toy" theory...I want to believe that Beinfest's hands are tied more than our scouting is inept. This is an argument that really has no end because it's a simple case of "he said, he said" and it comes down to whom you believe. Me? I believe Loria's scummy-side (which I hoped ceased to exist) is coming out and the fact that we've been able to bumble around and make decisions that happen to come out golden is starting to catch up with us. You can only stay "lucky" for so long.

To suggest that they aren't "concerned" about getting a new stadium is the height of lunacy.
