Those are affecting race2004.net which puts everything in. Still the best number to look at is Bush's percentage of the vote. Look at Wisconsin. Right now race2004 has it going Bush. But he isnt polling any higher 48 in the last week(in non strategic vision polls) and even in that one he only one point ahead.

Unless an elector changes his vote (unlikely, but legal and possible), the 12th Amendment to the Constitution dictates the matter to be resolved by the House of Representatives. Each state delegation receives one vote. If a delegation is evenly split on which candidate to vote for, no vote is cast. 26 votes are needed to win. The vice-president is elected seperately from the president through a simple majority vote of the Senate.

I like the idea that the percentage of votes for the candidate gets is the percentage of electoral votes they get from that state, kind of like what that amendment in Colorado proposes.

No one would campaign there, commercials would be national instead of local, and they would stand no chance of making a difference. In this election, however, Hawaii might determine it. The Electoral College needs reform, but it shouldn't be eliminated. Also, it won't be, because to eliminate it means to amend the Constitution. Even if somehow you get 2/3 of the House and the Senate to go along with it, do you honestly think 38 states will sign off on it? California, Texas, Florida, New York, and a handful of others won't mind. But I guarantee you Hawaii, Delaware, Vermont, Nevada, New Mexico, Montana, Alaska, Maine, and a bunch of others won't be too keen on doing so.
