October 29, 200421 yr The school brought in Howard Dean to speak as part of our annual lecture on Wednesday. He had a dinner beforehand with some influential people on campus, and a few of them said that he at one point compared Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin to Bush. He also did this during his speech, saying that there is more to just having military power, "just ask Stalin and Hitler". The crowd really loved him, as all of the liberals on campus came out of the woodwork to hear him talk. Although I don't agree with anything that he says, I must say that he is a very good public speaker and knows how to work a crowd. Anyone else ever hear him talk?
October 29, 200421 yr Did he scream? LOL JK, glad you had a good time. I only had big politicians come into my school in middle school and high school. In middle school, we had Raul Martinez (loser), Mayor of Hialeah; and Alex Penelas when he first ran for Mayor. I met Penelas when he came to my job to speak out about Hispanic Heritage. In high school, we had Jeb come in to tour the school.
October 29, 200421 yr howard continues to fight the good fight. still bummed he got raked over the coals by the media over that stupid yell taken entirely 1000% out of context.

October 29, 200421 yr Someone should dig up the link for the video showing his "yell" as the crowd heard it. It sounded completely normal...BEFORE the media blew it way out of proportion and made him seem like a lunatic.
October 29, 200421 yr Author Here is what he said about the yell (which he did do in the beginning by the way): He was giving that speech there in Iowa, and he said the crowd was so deafining that you couldn't here. So, he had a special kind of microphone that only picked up his voice, and because of the crowd screaming, he was yelling and that came out. He said to notice how none of the newspaper reporters picked it up that night; it wasn't revealed until the next day by video people. He was in pretty good spirits about it, saying that he is doing a commercial for Yahoo with the yell.
October 30, 200421 yr the media portyal of the 'yell' though is what put some devastation into the dean campaign.... yes howard is in good spirits about it... still that doesnt change the facts about how the media responded.
October 30, 200421 yr Howard's awesome...I'm still bummed about him getting screwed. He didn't win for two reasons: 1. the "scream" 2. his position on tax cuts compared to the rest of the panderers (Dean: repeal all bush tax cuts; Kerry & other panderers: repeal the cuts for the rich folk while fictitiously balancing the budget--which he's backed off of now)
