Notes and Good-byes of the offseason

Featured Replies

Hello everybody and Happy Thanksgiving to all,

First as you all know Pav's is a goner, I'd like to wish him nothing but the best wherever he ends up. He grew up right in front up of our eyes.

As well as Len Kasper, a class guy all the way, I'm going to miss his HR calls "That ball is Ouutta herre." Good luck Len

Red, what can you say about a man that took batting practice naked! Red your attitude and professional will be missed :lol seriously though... Good Luck Red, we love guy and you'll always be a Marlin in are eyes.

Well, the offseason is just getting started and I'm hearing moans and groans by some about this organization being cheap. Can we get to Dec. atleast! People we have to be creative...All together lets say it "we have to be creative" Lets see...

The Marlins early this week offered Benitez a 1yr 5 million with a team opition of 6 million for 2006. This a great move, because your bullpen must be...no no HAS to be strong, if you have any thoughts of competing next season.

Leiter(if signed) would be a huge move by the fish. True he's a 5 to 6 inning pitcher at best, but his such a competitor. That fire can only help our young staff, especially Taylor Tankersley and Jason Vargas a couple of lefties who "could" surprise :whistle No Leiter, then Lieber is a name you could see.

The Hudson rumors Ok if your willing to trade Scott Olsen and Jeremy Hermida(Billy Beane loves this kid) to start, then lets start getting his Marlins' uniform ready. Answer No thanks

The Fish are looking for an OFer....Magglio Ordonez could be a name that comes up later on...

that's all again Happy Thanksgiving

If Olsen and Hermida gets us Hudson (which would be more than the Yankees gave up to get Vazquez, when the Expos and A's were pretty much in the same situation)...then does Olsen and Stokes get us Zito?

If so, I'm intrigued about that one.

If we did that, we'd be going the way of KC's experiment last season. Southpaws majority, right hand flame throwers minority.

Exactly. I don't know what is up with all the complaining so early in the offseason. Most likely no major free agent signing or move will be made by anyone before Dec. 7th. Most teams are trying to save their draft picks and waiting to see who else becomes available.

I don't want to trade Olsen or Hermida (but especially Olsen) for a guy who most likely will only be with us 1 year. No thanks.

I doubt we'll see Tankersley next season, but I could see Vargas maybe getting the call late in the season if someone goes down.

The difference with that being that you have a former CY Young winner (Zito), a hard tossing lefty who finds ways to win (Leiter), a crafty lefty who is still improving (Trelle), and then two of the best pitchers in the game when healthy (AJ and Josh). The only question would be, who the hell starts Opening Day?

If the marlins get Zito, i rather get Leibeir instead. But under that scenerio you mentioned Zito would be the opening day starter:

1. Zito

2. AJ

3. Leiter

4. Josh

5. Willis

On merit, I don't believe so. Only based on the L-R-L-R-L setup does that happen.

That's a damn fine rotation, but no way is the "new guy" the opening day starter. Unless we sign Pedro or trade for Randy, no one is knocking AJ or Josh down. As far as I'm concerned, it's Beckett's role to be our "ace" until someone takes it from him, wearing teal.

I know that sounds antiquated and stupid, but you show your guys respect and make the new ones earn it.

Thats right. At least we didnt loose our other valuable guys. I cant wait to see them in action next year. This incldes Pierre, Cabrera, Lowell and all them. Well survive.
