Mets To Make an Offer to Pedro

Featured Replies

I was just listened to a radio station from Puerto Rico (over the internet)

They are reporting that Pedro Martinez and Mets GM Minaya met in Dominican Republic, and that the Mets are ready to put an offer on the table for 3 years with a one year option. Not sure on $$ amount

It's already been posted in the Yankees offer thread.

I'm nervous about the money. I really hope Minaya doesn't go overboard.

*sarcastically*

Why not? They're the Mets, it wouldn't be the first time!

:plain

You guys must crack yourselves up. At least the Mets are willing to spend the money ... which is more than you can say for a certain other team who are too cheap to even retain their own players.

Reports have the Mets offering a 3 year, 42 million dollar deal. I could live with that.

The Mets practically roll in their own money. They make more money selling those rip offs of the NY Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers caps then the Marlins make all year. May I remind you of our current stadium situation where Hipinga takes all the money and the Marlins are left without anything.

At least the Marlins when they do spend the money the spend it right. They don't overspend on crappy players like your beloved teams has been doing for 4 years now. Our team doesn't make itself look like retards signing by players for big money just to finish at or near the basement. Atleast the Marlins have an excuse for finishing last, the Mets don't.

Have fun with your crap next year Mets_bs.

BTW: We won a world championship, what has your garbage of a franchise done in that time, except make asses of themselves?

It's not being cheap, it's a lack of funds... Why don't you go out and buy yourself a house in Beverly Hills? Is it cause you're cheap, or cause you can't afford it?

Come on, man....

wahhh wahhhh wahhhhh. You can blame the stadium deal, you can blame the agents, you can blame the big market teams; but when it comes down to it Miami is a s***ty baseball city and Florida is a s***ty baseball state. How does it feel to go to a game and have more Mets fans at the games than Marlins fans? You ever wonder why John Henry dumped the Marlins franchise like the bag of s*** they are? Because they play second fiddle in their own fanbase to a team in NY. Your team won the World Series last year and they still can't draw s***.

And as for all of this wise spending going on, how much are you paying Mike Hampton to play for the Braves? Yet you're too scared to give Pudge a long term deal! You sink money into players like Preston Wilson but don't make a real attempt to sign your two best pitchers from last year. SMART! They should have contracted your asses.

I have to agree with mets_bs. Mets go out year after year and spend money on players. You can't blame them for it.

Whoa, simmer down there, Mets_bs. It seems like you're a little upset about something. Could it be because you're trying to justify the fact that your team spends and spends, but still can't win? Could it be because the Marlins do, in fact, spend their money wisely and end up with a World Championship?

How has it felt the last couple of seasons watching the Mets play meaningless games in August and September?

You have to admit the Mets have not spent their money wisely the last few years.... Even this offseason, I question the Kris Benson deal, but we'll see how that one plays out.

Oh come on loser, stop thinking the Mets are so great. The Marlins fans always out number you loser Mets fans at Joe Robbie. Face it, the Mets suck, you guys might spend money but it always goes in the toilet. As for Henry he dumped the Marlins because he failed in the stadium front. He just got here and started demanding things like he was the president. The poiticians never liked him for at that demanding.

You think the Marlins are the second team in Florida to the Mets? GET A LIFE.

Sports Illustrated did a poll in the state and the Marlins were by far the favorite team 33% to the Yankees not Mets 14%.

That's a lot of money to finish in 4th place 20 games UNDER .500. If the Marlins spent that type of money we'd be raising our third and fourth championship banners.

Pittsburgh? 32,227,929? 1,193,627?

:confused

New York Mets 100,629,303 3,870,358

Minnesota 53,585,000 2,060,962

Whoops, one of these teams made the playoffs.

Isn't that what's supposed to happen?
