December 5, 200421 yr any news on the guy...is he going to stay in beantown or go to NY. give me the scoop and thanks in advance.
December 5, 200421 yr The bottom line is it is a 3 team race between the Bosox, Yanks, and Mets. Pedro WANTS to stay in Boston but he wants that 4th year guarenteed. He shopped the Mets to get that guarentee - he got it - now the ball is back in Theo Epstein's court. Will the Bosox give him that extra year? That's why they play the game... The Red Sox will be going through a similar situation with Jason Varitek. Veritek wants a FIVE year contract with a team because he doesn't want to uproot his daughter who is starting school. Again, the Bosox, Yanks, and Mets are the biggest contenders for him as well. Who means more to the consistancy of the team, Pedro or Varitek? Who would be YOUR priority? Tougher call than you would think at first...

December 6, 200421 yr yeah the option was for the 4th year. come on Pedro. 627871[/snapback] Do you actually think he will last more than 2 years?

December 6, 200421 yr Last year was the 1st time in four years that Pedro pitched 200 innings. He probably would have sat out a couple of extra games this year if he wasn't afraid of being overshadowed by Schilling. If Pedro was a pitcher who derrived his power from his legs, like Clemens, it would be a different story. Historically ARM pitchers start breaking down much earlier in their careers. That being said, Pedro easily has 3 years left - he's only 32. However, if I'm a manager, I don't count on 200 innings from Pedro. I try to pitch Pedro right before or after an innings-eater knowing that I'll be calling on the bullpen. Obviously, if my bullpen is suspect, I can't even look at Pedro as a viable candidate for a rotation spot on my team.
December 6, 200421 yr pedro will shock all and go and play for the baltimore o's or M's. thats my stone cold lock.
