December 10, 200421 yr AJ is trouble and you know he leaves next season when he has a chance to. He probably receives about $3.5M this year in arbitration so.... The Yanks want Randy Johnson and could use a 1B. The DBacks want a good young arm and prospects. I want AJ gone, Vazquez here and $$ freed up. Randy Johnson, Jeff Conine to the Yanks Aj Burnett, Encarnacion and Yankees prospects to the DBacks Vazquez to the Marlins at a discounted price. Let's say we pay $24M of the $24.5 left on his contract (3 years). This would free up $3MM. That should allow us to increase the offer to Pavano, land Tino Martinez for 1Band maybe up the offer to Dellucci to play RF. Pavano, Beckett, Vazquez, Leiter and Willis. Okay, maybe you disagree with the specifics of my deal but because I think AJ bails on us I'd rather have Pavano. If we want to lose Juan E. and even Conine's contract what beter team to get involved with than the Yanks and the Dbacks who need a third team to complete their trade?
