Still be in Florida with a new owner. Hopefully we get the stadium built and then Loria sells the team to a guy who's committed to winning. I'd love a Mark Cuban-type owner. Someone with personality who makes us truly elite.

I think they'll be in Florida with a new owner. I have to go with my feelings, we can't lose the Marlins. And it doesn't seem like Loria will stick around for too much longer either. There are a lot of sport fans in Miami, and they need a baseball team, so the Marlins aren't go anywhere!

I don't want to lose the Marls either, and i voted the basically optimistic choice, still in fla with a new owner. If the marls were to move, i'd lose my favorite sports team even as a miami fan. I don't have the dolphins to fall back on like most miami folks, because i really don't give a rat's a$$ about the dolphins when compared to the Marls.

I voted that the Marlins will still be in Florida with a new owner. Despite of the good things Loria brought us, I am seriously starting to get tired of him. I remember saying some time ago that there is something about him that I can't trust him.

I chose that the Marlins will stay in Florida with Jeffrey Loria still as the owner.

 

I am very optimistic that the Marlins will get the new stadium. If and when it comes, attendace is going to sky rocket because of the location of the stadium (OB) and the weather proof features (Roof).

 

Revenues are going to dramatically increase, thus attracting Loria to remain as the owner.

They've been to 5 Superbowls, they average huge attendance numbers, and they almost always put out a winning product. Also, the Fins have never had a firesale after winning a World Championship. The Marlins will be here, but with a new owner.

 

MLB will force Loria to sell before they (MLB) give up on Miami...remember, baseball also has quite a bit of money riding on us getting a stadium, that makes me think we're more likely to see Loria being pressured into selling the team than Loria being allowed to move.

This would not be a problem if the people that promised to cover cost overruns no longer want to pay for them.

Apparently that's the new sticking point, from what I've heard.

OK, now that I've read the article. It seems that the Marlins are still committed to paying cost overruns .... unless the mayor once again asks for control of the construction project so he line the pockets of his buddies. It's an issue of how they are going to guarantee them. Perhaps they are still securing the loans, which they couldn't begin to negotiate on fair terms until the RICO case was settled. Or {wild rumor} maybe Loria can not promise a lien on the franchise because of conditions he's guaranteed to these unnamed private minority partners that the former minority partners and media suspect he's brought in.{/wild rumor}

I'm beginning to be skeptical of the whole stadium situation. I blame both the Marlins and the local politicians.

 

It seems the longer it takes to close this deal; the less likely that it will happen.

 

In addition, I have to believe there is a long road before this can be closed. Where are the blueprints? How the heck do they know this thing would cost 425mill without a design?

 

At this point of the game, the two parties should be working out the small details of the deals. It looks like we haven?t made any real progress in a year.

Well, Loria & Samson do have to overcome some bad rep they got, fairly or unfairly, from their stint in Montreal. The good news is that they fought off the legal challenge from their minority partners. That would allow them to raise $$$$ to either fund the payroll or pay down any stadium debt. They're not the type to just sell (they never wanted to when they owned the Expos. MLB "forced" them to take over the Marlins).

I pray we do keep the team...and we get a new owner. Right now its all positive thinking, and i go with number one
