December 17, 200421 yr AJ is becoming a cancer. All he does is continue to drill at management who not even a year ago was paying for his salary without contesting it or asking for it to be lowered further while he had surgery. 636856 yes, Loria is the only owner ever to pay a top arm while he goes thru rehab what are you talking about?

AJ has no right talking, because the only reason he won the ring was because he was on the roster part of the year...but he by no means helped win it.
December 17, 200421 yr Just drop it dudes, let's see what big player we miss next 636860 :plain get outta here
December 17, 200421 yr Author Gotta love the spirit. IT IS ONLY DECEMBER! We signed Pudge when? Anyone? Anyone? THAT'S RIGHT....IT WAS JANUARY! Calm down everyone, things still have much to go before we will know. There are bigger fish to fry and the moves by the Mets, Braves, and Yankees are minor compared to the moves the Marlins will make in July.

December 17, 200421 yr Author Why DT? The merchandise for sale right now is not worth the Marlins' money. Most Atlanta fans I have seen are praying AOL gives the Braves more money to keep him, but what if he is a rental? The lost some pretty important factors for the Braves making the playoffs in Thomas' bat, speed, and defense. In July, it will be worth to spend the money. Right now, the players are crappy.
December 17, 200421 yr Author Anybody know the Braves payroll for 2005? Post some guesses then I shall tell you the range given by AOL Time Warner corporate.

Post some guesses then I shall tell you the range given by AOL Time Warner corporate. 636876 $80 mill? 636878 correct. Now for you moneyball number crunchers....crunch the bravos payroll just for 2005 with hudson. In 2006 the payroll will shrink further. Include Chipper, Andruw, Franco, Hampton (which Braves will have to pay solo in 2006), and Smoltz. Then calculate in Hudson's salary in 2005 along with what they have to spend to get a bullpen, outfield, and some utility players.

December 17, 200421 yr The Yankees have reached agreement on the key players in a three-team trade that would send Randy Johnson to the Bronx, Newsday reported Thursday. The Dodgers would receive Javier Vazquez and two minor leaguers, and the Diamondbacks would get Yhency Brazoban, Shawn Green and Brad Penny. (I heard LA gets Yanks prospects too...Nacarro included) ----------------------------------- Okay, until its done it's not done....but, this puts the Sox in a bind., Trot Nixon, Arrojo and that rookie SS prospect for AJ and Juan E? We'll exchange Juan for Trot, a lefty bat with some nice power. Arrojo would join the rotation and this young SS is suppose to be a gem.

December 17, 200421 yr Author If Atlanta is out of it in July or August (which should be the goal of every NL East team to help them there) Shurtzy will have to get rid of Hudson and maybe even the 2 Jones boys.

Braves current payroll is around $69.4 million and (around) $80 million is there limit. That means they have $10.6 million free to spend... To reduce their 2004 payroll of $90 million to (around) $69.4 million and while acquiring Tim Hudson and Danny Kolb. John Schuerholz is damn good GM...

John Schuerholz is damn good GM... 636907 Some facts to backup my comments... First, Thursday?s trades do little to the payroll. Before the two trades, the Braves were right around the $70 million dollar mark, some $12 million under budget (give or take $1.5-$2 million). When you take Hudson?s salary for 2005 ($6.75 million) and you subtract the salaries of Marrero ($3 million), Juan Cruz (.42 million), and Charles Thomas (.33), you get a net gain of only $3 million dollars to that $70 million making our budget currently at $73 million ? that?s $9 million under budget. http://braves.scout.com/2/331724.html
December 17, 200421 yr Author That means they have $10.6 million free to spend...636907 If that is the money left, then that is what they have left to spend on two corner outfielders, bullpen guys, and some bench players. Comes to about an average $2 million if they get 5 more players and pay them each about the same salary. To reduce their 2004 payroll of $90 million to (around) $69.4 million and while acquiring Tim Hudson and Danny Kolb. John Schuerholz is damn good GM... 636907 No one disputes he is a good GM.....but he is going for the title without some key parts the Braves have depended on.
December 17, 200421 yr Author $9 million won't get you a Magglio-type, another decent outfielder, some bench players, and some bullpen guys. The Braves still have holes that are gaping.

December 17, 200421 yr Author Do the Braves have anyone in their farm system they can call up anymore? Either at Richmond or Mississippi?
