December 21, 200421 yr Payton's contract isn't that bad. I'm just surprised that San Diego threw all of those players and dollars at the Sox for just Roberts, and nobody else. Vasquez will backup Renteria and maybe help out Bellhorn at second once in awhile, I would imagine.
December 21, 200421 yr Payton is essentially Gabe Kapler's replacement. I could see Payto ngetting moved again as the Sox try to clear as much room for Varitek as they can and they will also look at Wade Miller.
