December 27, 200421 yr Rotoworld is reporting that the Reds have signed LHP Eric Milton to a 3 yr. deal.
December 27, 200421 yr Wow The Reds are a bunch of morons then to give him anything past a one year deal.
December 27, 200421 yr Author 3 yrs, 25.5 mil. This is the same deal in total dollars that Matt Clement got. Wow. It just keeps getting better and better. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1953888
December 27, 200421 yr Wow.... This is getting ridiculous. What the hell is it gonna take to sign someone like Tim Hudson long term? If a pitcher like Milton is making this much, the future is scary. And I thought contracts were starting to get under control.... Oh well.. Giants finalized their deal with Moises, so I'm happy... Can't wait for Opening Day !!
December 28, 200421 yr im happy for the reds at least its someone decent ... even if they are overpaying
December 28, 200421 yr im happy for the reds at least its someone decent ... even if they are overpaying 643533 Thank you, I know we overpayed for him, but I am just thrilled that we are actually trying to put a contender together for '05. We added weber, weathers, mercker to a SUCKY bullpen, got 1 decent starter in Ortiz and a pretty good one in Milton. We also got a 3rd baseman in Randa which we desperatly needed! Watch out for the Reds in '05.
December 28, 200421 yr pretty good one in Milton. 643582 A pitcher who hasn't even come close to cracking 4 is not a good pitcher, he's slightly above average who's only getting this money because he's been very fortunate when it comes to run support.

December 28, 200421 yr catch are you a reds fan? yea they got weber like 2 weeks ago! i think we have a legit shot to make the playoffs this year!

I didnt say he was great, but he is one of the best ones that we have.
December 28, 200421 yr catch are you a reds fan? 643658 I was a Reds fan before the marlins ... I still follow them very closely :thumbup

December 28, 200421 yr It also should be noted that his walks rose sharply last season to an all time high of 75 and he IP were about his career averages too.
December 28, 200421 yr I understand his E.R.A and that they overpaid for him, but if you are 9 games over .500 you got to be doing something right!

December 28, 200421 yr Good move for the Reds but overpriced.. In a year or so if mediocre pitchers are getting paid this much what are Hudson and Mulder gonna be asking? Ugh!
December 28, 200421 yr Author I understand his E.R.A and that they iverpaid for him, but if you are 9 games over .500 you got to be doing something right! 643699 Does this guy remind anyone else of a left-handed Aaron Sele? I'm betting that in 2005 Milton's numbers look a lot more like the 98-2000 seasons (when he played for a sub-.500 team) than '04.
December 28, 200421 yr I understand his E.R.A and that they iverpaid for him, but if you are 9 games over .500 you got to be doing something right! 643699 Yeah, you picked a team with a helluva offense.

Right it down, whatever, cuz it's true.

Milton's start he recieved run support way above The Phillies average, so it's not going to mean anything if The Reds out beat The Phillies. Unless of course they provide freaky run support for him again.
January 1, 200521 yr I think Milton is going to be a very successful pitcher, but I don't know if it'll get to the point where he's worth $8.5 Million a year. That's $1.5 Million less than Carl freakin' Pavano. Pavano should have waited to sign. This would have brought his price wayyyy up.
