January 6, 200521 yr Author roof looks great. a piece of art. maybe Loria should go for more of a bare bones to lower cost? 648954 If it is going to be built, let it be built right. We do not need another Miami Arena. This damn ballpark better be one of the best. I don't need the Marlins a few years from now demanding a new ballaprk because this year they decided to go bare bones. That is simply another recipe for Miami Arena II.
January 6, 200521 yr I think that the team may have gotten a grant from someone to include some of these bells and whistles. The water cleaning system is likely for the aquarium too.

It could be something the County came up with for the aquarium and to add to the area's waters & sewers system. It could be a federal grant to help conserve water....it could be something done to save money....who knows.
January 7, 200521 yr Author I e-mailed David Samson and asked him about this model on Popular Mechanics. He confirmed that it is one of the designs being looked at. But that no final decisions have been made as to the final design to be chosen.

January 8, 200521 yr Like stated earlier, if you're going to build it build it right. You knew Loria wasn't going to let this stadium be anything short of the most beautiful ballpark in baseball. At least I knew it... To be honest, I'd rather have a gorgeous stadium for 30 years than a good team for the next three, considering we've been playing in a box with the corners folded for the past decade.
January 8, 200521 yr i agree with wild card, i think that the marlins stadium is going to be the best stadium in MLB
January 19, 200521 yr The article feature the new Arizona Cardinals stadium, but this mention of the Marlins Ballpark was made. http://images.snapfish.com/3427%3B%3A5523232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2334%3D426%3D498%3DXROQDF%3E232374299%3B444ot1lsi 648631 Thanks Cape, I wasn't gonna be able to scan it. (computer problems) Well anyways that pic is actually bigger than the one in the magazine. The roof really impresses me. I kept thinking of what it reminded me of, then I finally figured it out. It somewhat resembles the Sydney Opera House. 648654 Great call...that is a very good observation. If our new stadium could be a landmark like that...wow. Next to the OB though, I wonder what they will be doing with the whole complex? And is this, in part, why H-bomb is rushing to make changes to JRS (now, Dolphin Stadium)? I would love to see the Marlins not only land this new stadium, but also see it step towards revitalizing the little Havana area and downtown Miami AND steal the OB game BACK to the OB!!

Placing an aquarium within the stadium may open up new doors for funding as well. Does Miami Seaquarium recieve any special funding to keep its doors open? You betcha! Besides, I wonder if not only creating something similar to the Seaquarium might open up funding possibilities, but maybe even a partnership withe the Miami Seaquarium could be mutually beneficial to the Marlins and the M.S... :whistle
