Miami Marlins?

So your saying Broward is exclusive to whites? I heard lots of people from Dade were moving to Broward and many of them are minorities.

No, what I'm saying is that Huizenga's perception of the two counties is what I believe drove him to that decision.

I work in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, and trust me, driving into the office on Sunrise Blvd., ain't a white face around. But look at the Broward power structure and tell me how many "minority" faces you see, compared to Dade.

As long as the new name doesnt end up being The Washington D.C. Marlins its all good

The team was awarded to South Florida, not to the ENTIRE STATE OF FLORIDA. The name of the team has nothing to do with territorial rights, the Angels didn't lose anything after THREE name changes, remember when they entered the league in 1961 they were the Los Angeles Angels, then became California, and now are Anaheim (only because Disney is the reverse of Huizenga and wants to establish an Anaheim identity since they are an Anaheim company, hence the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim). Again, the name of the team has nothing to do with the contractual obligations imposed by MLB, thinking that way is very simplistic!

The choice of "Florida" over "Miami" was a typical anti-Dade bias that Huizenga had. The Panthers came after the Lightning, but Wayne still named them the "Florida" Panthers because he would rather DIE than have "Miami" attached to anything he owned. I think Wayne is a closet racist and would rather be associated with "white" Broward than "minority-majority" Dade.

I'm a minority (hispanic), and believe it should stay Florida. It was awarded as Florida and should stay, but if the people of Dade County have such a big problem with the team being called Florida, if they pay for the ballpark, then they should be able to change it.

Miami Marlins just doesn't sound right to me, Florida Marlins 1997 World Champions. Much better.

If the team was awarded to South Florida, then why did it have a state-wide television network with stations in Jacksonville, Orlando, and Fort Myers up until 1999 when WAMI-TV became flagship and stopped airing the games outside of Miami? It is called the Florida Marlins for some reason, MLB determines this, not the ownership only.

We'll of course Dade is the land of the minorities. Soon Broward will become a "minority-majority" county as well then Wayne will have to go back to his "White" cave of his or consider Palm Beach.

The Miracle uni's have to resemble the Twins. Torii Hunter in a Twins and Miracle uni looks identical. The blue jersey with red lining looks nice, but since he put up the light uni's i put up the pinstripes.
