January 13, 200521 yr Are in the win column again! First ACC road win, 91-80. Now are 2-1 in ACC play!
January 13, 200521 yr And this from a team picked for last in the ACC. Miami outscored Virginia by 17 in the second half. Going for 3 straight this Saturday against FSU in Coral Gables.
January 13, 200521 yr whoo great win for the guys...hopefully we keep it going and beat the seminoles
January 13, 200521 yr I think you can legitimately start talking about the Canes as an NCAA tourney team. People talk about 7 or even 8 teams getting from the ACC. Well, you have to consider Miami to be the 6th best team in the ACC right now, or even 5th depending on how you feel about Maryland. I don't know if they'll finish there, but that's how they stand right now. Miami's last 13 games are in the ACC. They are 11-3 right now. If they finish out 7-6, they go to 18-9 overall, and 9-7 in the ACC. I think that makes them a lock for the ACC. 17-10, 8-8 would probably put them on the bubble. While you do see teams get at-large bids with 16, that's unlikely for Miami with their fairly non-challenging OOC schedule. Miami still has 2 games against FSU, Clemson, and VTech, so anything's possible.
January 13, 200521 yr Great win. The progress Frank Haith has made has been very impressive. Also, this shows what a hack Perry Clark really was. Imagine if Haith had the team Perry had his first year (Salmons, Jones, Rice, etc.) that was seeded fifth in the NCAA tourney and lost to Mizzou in the first round. How much more could Haith have done with that team? Beat the Noles Saturday and once more, and the Canes can own the Florida Cup in both football and basketball. (Though I don't know if there is one for basketball, they could at least own the mythical version.) (And sorry, I really don't like Perry Clark.)
January 13, 200521 yr Virginia and NC State have long been the jokes of the ACC. I like what I've seen from the Canes so far, but in a few more years you'll understand.
January 13, 200521 yr In a few more years, the ACC better watch out for the 'Canes. They will be able to recruit some very very good talent. The 'Canes will eventually dominate basketball like they do in baseball and football. Have Faith in Haith :notworthy But as for this year, I hope the 'Canes can make the tourney and win a couple games when there.
January 13, 200521 yr whoo great win for the guys...hopefully we keep it going and beat the seminoles 654501[/snapback] You're a hurricanes fan too? Isn't that like your 8th team?
January 15, 200521 yr FSU at Miami today.. on UPN According to some espn bracketoligists ... Miami would be a 12th seed in the NCAA Tournament and would play Texas in the 1st round if the NCAA Basketball season ended today.
