MarlinBaseball.com's All-Time Team

Featured Replies

Since polls seem to be the hip thing to do nowadays...I thought itd be cool to do a baseball player oriented one - to make an all-time great team.

Im going to make these nomination threads for each postion (with closers getting a thread as well) and then when we amass a good number of candidates, We will vote on them with the winner getting immortalized in MarlinBaseball.com lore forever.

Any player, who has ever played, may be nominated, since this is an all-time team.

Please try not to nominate more than 2 or 3 on your own, as this gets everyone involved.

Next Up: Left Field

Manny Ramirez

You really need to stop referring to BALCO Barroid Bonds as God..

I submit:

Shoeless Joe Jackson

Carl Yasztrzemski

Billy Williams

Bonds, God?

:lol :lol :lol

MaysBonds with every post you prove your idiocy.

with or without, he's still the best. Who won player of the decade in the 90's? How did he do last year? Exactly.

Without roids he couldn't hold Williams' jock as a hitter. All-around game is a different matter. Even without roids, Bonds is one of the two best LFers of all time.

Griffey.

Griffey was a better fielder and played a more demanding defensive position but that's all he had on Bonds.

Yes, but the "OMG Bonds is so awesone player of the 90's award presented by Mays24Bonds25" isn't really that creditable.

8 gold gloves, 3 mvps, 400/ 400, a 40/ 40 season, before anyone even doubted he was clean is no better than Chuck Carr? Alright.

Either way, he's by far the best in baseball and didn't break any rules.

Player of 1990s:

Bonds was named Player of Decade for 1990s by The Sporting News...hit .302 (1,478-for-4,894) with 1,091 runs scored, 299 2Bs, 42 3Bs, 361 HRs, 1,076 RBI and 343 stolen bases in 1,434 games during 1990s...past Player of Decade winners include: Stan Musial (1946-55), Ted Williams (1950-59), Willie Mays (1960-69), Pete Rose (1970-79) and Mike Schmidt (1980-89)...was only player in either league to receive MVP points in each year during 1990s...finished 3rd in decade for HRs, behind Mark McGwire (405) and Ken Griffey, Jr. (382)...also logged 3rd highest RBI total in 1990s, trailing only Albert Belle (1,099) and Griffey, Jr. (1,091)...won 8 Gold Gloves in left field...only Griffey, Jr. (10) and Greg Maddux (10) had more, at any position...was 1 of only 2 players in majors to hit at least 20 homers in each year during 1990's, matching former Giant Matt Williams.

and this was before having the three greatest offensive seasons in baseball history

Honestly, it's getting old, it doesn't matter if you're a Bonds hater or a Bonds supporter, just give it a rest already. Enough is enough.

Anyways, here's my list not including any players that were already mentions:

Rickey Henderson

Al Simmons

Ralph Kiner

Willie Stargell

Tim Raines

Billy Williams

You do notice that in every category he was behind....Ken Griffey was beating him in? Puzzling...
