July 14, 200323 yr :mischief2 Hey I just joined this forum and i had a question. Do you think the marlins can acquire Brian Giles? I think he would complete our team but i wonder how much it would take to bring him here.
July 14, 200323 yr I agree with you about him "completing" our team, but i doubt we'll get him, we'd have to give a position player and some good prospects probably. Welcome to the Boards
July 14, 200323 yr Author i am willing to part with carl pavano and maybe brad penny then we could offer prospects because i think phelps was a good starter
July 14, 200323 yr If we wait a little more, we can get Giles cheaper. We can always bring up Stratton and see how he does. when do the rosters expand?
July 14, 200323 yr If we wait a little more, we can get Giles cheaper. We can always bring up Stratton and see how he does. when do the rosters expand? Stratton did well last night...4 ab's 2 runs on 2 hits and a couple RBI's i think his average is up to .239...yippeee.(it's getting better) and he now has 29 homeruns :thumbup
July 14, 200323 yr Good so we can have Stratton's bat on the bench then to help with the playoff push. He is a lefty right?

July 14, 200323 yr This year alot of people have been using minor leaguers to help with playoff pushes. Abe Nunez may help, along with Stratton. As for the trade market, we could see anyone of a number of people. Admin is trying to see what he can do, but the bullpen is his main concern right now since the bat is not needed as much as a stable pen.

Pirates think they still have a chance at the weak NL Central, so dont expect Giles to go this season unless they fall way out and get a killer deal. He most likely will either resign in the off-season or be dealt later rather than now. Hes the player I most covet, and would complete this team with his lefty power.
