anyone notice how little off days they have, we have a stretch of 17 straight games at one point, also 12 and 13 game homestands, along with many 10-11 game road trips. it use to be like 6 games then an off day, also use to be like 6 game homestand, then 3 game roadtrip, then 3 game homestand, and a 6 game road trip. things have changed big time. its awesome that we have long homestands but also many long roadtrips. and 17 straight games is gonna kill us in september. :confused

well that makes sense, but even with all the weather problems we had, we had 21 straight games, now to avoid the weather in sept. there giving us 17 straight games, thats almost the same

I'd think a big reason for all the road games in September is the hurricane problems from 2004.

Last year, MLB's #2 Bob DuPay said that no changes were made for possible hurricanes in 2005's schedule.

Looking at the rest of the schedule for NL East teams, long road and home stands.

Maybe this can be described by fewer of double-repeaters (playing the same team in 2 weeks) and short 2-day series by the new schedule creditors. By reducing the number of overall road trips, you have to extend the few you've kept.

I realize that schedules are prepared often more than a year in advance but to be forced to plat seventeen days in a row in Sept, then one day off and nine more games in a row, ignoring bad weather/hurricanes is outrageous.

The September schedule looks gnarly, but the 6 game homestand (with a day off in the middle) is a nice way to finish the regular season.

And there is a 16 game run just before it during the 2nd half of August. :confused

Anyone else notice that there are hardly any day games during the week? I know that there are a few, but not nearly as many as last season.

Fewer western trips (and usually accustomed by a trip to the midwest) allow for the necessary off-days to spread out through the season as travel days. Fewer afternoon start times for escape games. More evening games. More money. Great.

If all goes well it will come down to the final 3 games against the Braves......that is unless we have already put it away by then.

Lets hope so. To tell you the truth I dont think there is any other team we would want at home to close the season. Maybe we could be tied with Atlanta and play them at home for a playoff spot. That would be awesome.

Hey, the season starts in 2 months.

We start and end with ATL at home.

We have a monster 13 game homestand against the NL West in August. That should be interesting.

Another thing I found a little strange:

We play STL and HOU 7 times...in both cases, with 4 games on the road. We play the CUBS 9 times...6 of those on the road. So, against the NL Central's Big Three, so to speak, we have 23 games with only 9 of those at home, and 14 on the road. That's just not fair.

I just want to play ball...that's all that matters.

Holy crap, I hadn't noticed that.

The Braves play 20 consecutive days before the All-Star break. And look at some of their road trips:

April 15-17 @Philly -> 18-19 @Houston -> 20-21 Washington

May 9-11 @Colorado -> 13-15 @LA -> 16-18 @SD -> 20-22 @Boston

July 14-17 @NY -> 18-20 @San Fran -> 22-24 @Arizona
