March 3, 200521 yr Had to leave after 5th inning. Biggest impression was Juan Pierre. He looks dangerous as hell at the plate. Beautiful bunt to 2nd base. Had 2nd stolen but Castillo singled. Stole third. Scored on a Cabrera "swinging bunt." Very exciting. He later tripled, driving in a run, and, before he reached first, half the fans were screaming "Three, Three!" JP is the Man! Beckett looked pretty good for two innings but lost control in the 3rd. Encarnacion and Easley had good AB's. Reid made a spectacular catch in Center. Strangest new impression was I actually expected every Marlin at the plate to get a hit. They just exude that kind of confidence. I'm not worried about this ST start. These guys can do it.
March 3, 200521 yr Last year I was all worried if we lost a game but this year I am not as worried. I know that our starting lineup opening day is going to be completely different from our ST lineup. I am mostly paying attention to the players that are going to be on our team. As long as they do good, I am happy
March 4, 200521 yr i think they never are, seeing that no one really cares about spring training. I can't wait till opening day!!!!! 701229 Yesterday's box score was at yahoo.com.....i'm sure today's will be in later.
March 4, 200521 yr 3/3 impressions from my desk, scoring the game through XM radio and not working: - "The [Marlins] love Willingham's bat." - DVH - WQAM still plays that crowd noise during its breaks. Still sounds a masssacre is occuring. - Easley working the count well. As usual. So were Encarnacion and Gonzalez. Rare. - Mike Colangelo plays centerfield? Nice recovery on that badly played ball in right in the 6th. - Bryan Corey got a short stint because Beckett couldn't finish the third and Leiter was supposed to be the next pitcher to come in the game. - The two players that DVH thinks Jason Stokes look like: Pete Incaviglia and Gorman Thomas
March 4, 200521 yr - The two players that DVH thinks Jason Stokes look like: Pete Incaviglia and Gorman Thomas 701302 Jason's sporting a funky goatee and long hair. He didn't look anything like what I've seen from pictures of him.
March 4, 200521 yr When are the box scores usually available for the spring training games? 701119 Espn.com always has them under MLB scores.
March 4, 200521 yr Box scores are on Floridamarlins.com - if you click on the game details and scroll to the bottom - you will see it. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=fla
March 4, 200521 yr Author p.s. PBPost has ALL the ST box scores each morning. p.p.s. I sat two rows behind J. Loria. That ring is incredible!
