HS kid makes a shot while on his rear end

Featured Replies

Now THIS is an amazing shot. A Minnesota high school player, in a championship game throws up a shot while he's on his bum and he makes it! His team needed it too; that shot send the game into a second overtime. And his team ended up winning the game to boot.

See the video here

Not quite as good as the work the did at Guilford College did, but still awesome.

I saw the shot live and when it first happened, as the ball went through the net, I wondered, "where the heck did the shot come from?"

Last night, a local sportscaster had the young man try the shot again. He made it on the 21st try. Of course the pressure, excitement, crowd, or other players were lacking from the previous night.

Ive tried the shot before, not as imposible as youd think, easier than a half courter...

I don't know about that, half courters are hard but not as hard as people think. If you practice it you can make 1 out of 3.

LOL, 1 out of 3!?!?

If it's so easy to consistently hit a half court shot 33% of the time, why doesn't every NBA team just inbound the ball and heave up a half court shot every trip up the floor?

It doesn't matter how much you practice, it's impossible to consistently hit 33% from half court. If you watched the practices during the allstar games, you'd have 20 allstars all going in a line taking half court shots and mabye 1 in 20 would actually go in.

If you practice half court shots, you can for sure make 1 out of 5 consistently, maybe even 1 out of 4.

Can you name me a single NBA team that practices half court shots consistently? They don't bother because as a team it's pretty dumb to practice half court shots, however players on their own can master the shot. Why did the all stars miss the half court shots? Because they don't practice them maybe? Dan Majerle had no problem with it, his form was perfect and he rimmed out on the first and swooshed the second.

Obviously, not just any player can hit a half court shot consistently. If you can't hit from three normally, you aren't going to be able to hit half courts magically. And I don't recommend just spotting up at half court and taking shots from there and expecting your team to come out on top. However, threes from midcourt are not only possible, with practice and a pre-existing touch from outside you can hit them consistently. Will you do it in a game? I don't know, but that's different because great shooters and great free throw shooters suck in games because they let their head get to them. As far as making the shot and nothing else is concerned, if you practice you can do it consistently. Trust me.
