So if the Mets win a World Series this year and then the Owner sells off every peice of the team and then feilds a minor league club which finishes dead last the next season.? ? You're telling me that all the "loyal" Mets fans will renew their season tickets and still have the same attendance figures and that won't effect the future of the franchise at all???

Huh? As far as I remember, the Mets didn't win the World Series in 1976.

No, but they traded the best player in franchise while still in his prime for 3 journeyman minor leaguers. Perhaps the darkest day in franchise history.

That's too bad. But, it doesn't compare to the firesale following the 1997 World Series. Al Leiter. Gary Sheffield. Bobby Bonilla. Edgar Renteria. Kevin Brown. Etc. Surely that's worse. And it explains why the Marlins have such a small fan base.

Every thread gets ruined because Mets bs has to talk about how wonderful his Mets are :huh

Mets fans are absolutely horrible. They boo more than they cheer their own team. When the Mets play at Dolphins Stadium it's the same thing Mets bs is doing. "The Mets are this..." "The Mets are that..." " The Marlins are this.....blah blah blah".

Met fans need to get over themselves.

I'm sick of this double standard the media has for the New York fanbases. The Mets start winning and the fans comeback and are called "die hards". The Marlins start winning and fans comeback and they're called bandwagoners. Then the media says 'You gotta win in New York'. No s*** sherlock you gotta win in any fanbase for people to go to the games, don't think you're better than anyone just because it's New York "The greatest city on Earth".

My favorite is the (drunk) Mets fan every game who believes that I am the living representation of the Florida Marlins and therefore, feels a need to yell vulgarities in my general direction after every strike is called against the Marlins or the Mets get an out.

Ugh... There's nothing worse than when you're just trying to enjoy a ballgame and you have to put up with some stupidass acting like a complete moron.

I got that on Friday, and because I was behind first base they kept yelling at me "hey, Carlos sucks!" so I said, "you know what, you're right, Beltran is 0-4, thanks for pointing that out." And he just had this stunned look on his face and went back to yelling "hey Hill (Perry Hill) you suck!"

Meet them with a witty non-violent remark and they just sink back into their shallow world...

LOL That's gold.

As much as the Yankees are popular here, NY is a national league town at heart, and it's not anything new -- it's been that way forever. Hell, the Yankees were merely an afterthought when the Dodgers and Giants were here. And even now, after just one week of winning, the Mets are talk of the town and everyone's waiting for the next Steinbrenner blow-up. 746470[/snapback]

That's why the Yankees got back page headlines today?

Look, just because Dave O'Brien says the Mets are the talk of the town during a Mets telecast doesn't make it so. Everyone here is saying "what's wrong with the Yankees?" Not, "wow, look at those Mets, who would have thought $200 million would buy them a .500 record?"

:thumbdown I hate that

The worst games to go to are the ones where the Marlins are playing the Mets...I usually give the tickets to someone else because I am sick of their fans.

Even my mom says this and believe me she is not the person who would say these kind of things about fans. She said they are horrible :thumbdown

So many people in New York have that attitude. They think the world revolves around this city. I'm outta here in three weeks!!

Last year when the Mets had that long losing streak at the end of the season there were nobody in the stands :D

I guess they only come when the team wins :headscratch

Yea. I don't really care if other fans come to watch a game. Now, when they act disrespectful is a whole different story... which is what happened to us at one of the Phillies games this season.

Yep.... Once I wore a Marlins shirt and hat to a Cleveland Indians game. Nobody said anything bad to me.. Some people asked if I was from Florida or if I just like the Marlins...A few fans made some jokes about the 97' WS but alot of them were kinda funny.. I dont know why certain cities have such disrespectful fans :confused

I don't know. I have been to games in the past in Atlanta and the fans there didn't bother us at all... and we were cheering and having a great time too. Plus, we were winning. :D Last year we went to a Braves-Mets game just to go watch some baseball and we wore our Marlins gear. Maybe like one or two guys said something kinda stupid but it's wasn't that bad. We just kinda laughed. This other guy was even asking us if we were from Miami and what not.

Well, with Mets fans it's simply an inferiority complex being the second banana to the Yankees. I don't know how many of you here have been to Shea Stadium after a Met win (it is, after all, a rare experience ;) ), but when the fans are leaving it's "Yankees suck!" not "let's go Mets!" That's some kind of envy right there, really tells you something.

That is beautiful

I've never had a normal conversation with a Met fan ever :no There is one in my class and she is a little (fill in word here) ;)

At a Spring Training game I met this Red Sox fan(his seat was next to mine). His family came down for the Marlins/Sox game but it was rained out so he decided to come watch another Marlins game. Hee even mentioned to me that Met fans are horrible. :lol This guy asked me all these questions about the Marlins; he wanted to know all about the players..

.He said he was suprised that I knew every player and all this other stuff about them :lol

It must be just Mutt fans :shrugs Never met a nice Mutt fan in my life

I work with a nice Mets fan. She and I put a Marlins and Mets logo on the "soup of the day" board.

I hate the Mets, but there are good fans for every team, and obnoxious fans for every team. For the most part, I've found that the best fans for a team are the St. Louis fans, and the Anaheim fans, but the worst (or at least the ones with the highest concentration of obnoxious ones) are just about any northeast team, with noted honor (or I guess you could say dishonor) going to Mets, Red Sox and Phillie fans. Yankees fans can get obnoxious, but at least they're not spitefully mean, they're witty (for the most part) when they jibe you, for the Mets and Red Sox it's "you suck, you're gay, I hope you have AIDS" or something tasteless like that.

I was thinking of taking off my jersey, which would have revealed my 2003 WS Champs shirt and flaunted that in their face but I just ignored them.

Did anyone else notice all the "Yankees Suck" chants that broke out on Fri and Sat? How pathetic are these Mets fans that they start those sort of chants? Aside from the booing of Delgado, I never heard any Marlins related chants but heard no less than 10 Yankees Suck chants. Get your priorities straight.

I am definitely not a Yankees fan and I am sure I am will get tired of hearing "Yankees Suck" over and over at a ballgame where the Yankees aren't even playing.

About Mets fans, I have friends who are Mets fans and they're pretty cool, so not all are gonna be the same. I guess it just seems that way though, huh? :p

It's fine when the team is at your home park and you are crushing them badly. But when the team is in a whole different region playing a totally different team that's low.
