FreshFish
Is Zo a Future Hall of Famer? he proclaimed himself a HOF, in a interview. Not a good move. He is not a HOF
Guest Fritz
Yes only because the Basketball HOF is relatively mediocre.
sheff#1
yes hes a HOF. career 20 and 10 guy. 7 time all star. 2 time Defensive player of the year. olympic gold medalist. top 10 all time in shots blocked.
FutureGM
Yeah, he should make it in. He was the dominant center in the East for most of the 1990's.

TSwift25
Yes, the NBA HOF isn't exactly Cooperstown...if you're a known name, odds are you're in...and in his prime, he was always one of the top-5 big-men in the game.
PhxPhin
nope the guy, despite being a 7 time all-star (watered down due to fan voting) has only played 60+ games in 7 seasons, so there really haven't been too many seasons that he has played in more than 75% of the teams games he is a good defender & has blocked a lot shots and won DPOY twice .. but then again he was a first team defensive selection only twice he was first team all NBA once ... second team all NBA once add in the relative lack of success for his teams, i don't think he gets in

PhxPhin
so guys who made all NBA first team once and all NBA second team once should be automatic hall of famers?! he played in a relatively weak era and could only crack the top 10 twice what makes him special enough to be HOF sure he was a good player .. but not an elite player
The Fan
Only if they make an exception for his disease and look at his body of work before it and feel he could have gotten better. I'd have to say probably not but I would not be suprised either way.
FreshFish
SHAQ - better Ewing - better Robinson - better Olajuwon - better All of these guy's team made it to the finals. Can someone explain to me how you can be the 5th best and still be a HOF? I know it is close call, but I don't think he is deserving. He couldn't never carried his team in a meaningful way in the post season.

ZO was an elite player. The basketball HOF includes college not just NBA.
PhxPhin
shef - i'm not debating ewing but if i were i'd point out he was all NBA 2nd team six times, all defense second team 3 times, rookie of the year, and was more durable in his career he has also made the transition to coaching Zo was good, just not elite ... he was never a superstar in this league
Mabdul Doobakus
If the requirements were as strict as baseball, he wouldn't even be close. I don't know anything about the NBA Hall of Fame, though. I drove by it once but I don't even remember where that was. I can't imagine him getting in by any standard, though.

Didnt make it a finals until TD got there. Ewing was not better. Shaq and Olajuwon was better.
Shaq-Man
i'd say zo's career accomplishments fall a tad short of the HOF. that said, he'll be voted in anyway because of what he managed to accomplish despite a career shortened by kidney trouble. PhxPhin
yep .. the baskeball hall of fame includes all basketball contributions, international, collegiate, etc zo really didn't distinguish himself there either he was never a dominating force he was a good player and deserved all star in most years but he is also a solid step below the other centers of his time and in the history of the game

MJ went to the finals in 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, and 98...SHAQ made it to the finals in 95 in the east, and Ewing in 94 both years without MJ...the year the Heat had their best team ever they had to go against MJ and the Bulls in the Eastern Conf. is that Zo's fault. Stop hating. I feel that ZO did enough in his shortened career and due to his freak illness that he deserves to be in the HOF. Not a first ballot HOF but he should be enshrined. He had the skill level and tenacity to be there.
FreshFish
not hating. I have supported him and I was upseat that he was getting so little playing time. I just feel he is not a sure HOF, and he shouldn't proclaim himself as a HOF
PhxPhin
zo better than robinson?! crazy robinson was rookie of the year, MVP, scoring title, rebounding title, 4 time all nba first team, 2 time all nba second team, 4 time nba defensive first team, 4 time all defense second team, 10 time all star, 3 time olympian, nba sportsman ship award, 2 time nba champion the most ppg zo ever put up was 23.2 ....... robinson equaled or bettered that amount 7 times zo had 1 year where he grabbed 11 boards a game and broke 10 boards a game 4 times .. robinson broke 11 rpg 5 times and 10 rpg 11 times zo had 4 seasons with over 3 bpg ... not once over 4 bpg ... robinson had 1 seasons with 4 bpg and 6 additional seasons over 3 bpg yeah .. they are almost on the same level .............
