Can't it just be done by record like MLB and the NFL does it? 783535[/snapback] The Houston Rockets in 1983 were suspected of "tanking" games so they could get the #1 overall pick, which they did and took Hakeem Olajuwon...they decided to go with a random selection of the non playoff teams, which Stern would grab an envelope to see who got the first pick, rumor had it that the envelope was kept really cold so Stern could give the Knicks the #1 overall pick to take Ewing...so it eventually led to the ping pong lottery.
