Has this ever happened when every team is over .500 50+ games into a season?

If this were the NBA every team would be making the playoffs

I bet that if you were to place any of those teams in another division they would be at the top of it.

Maybe the NL West....thats about it.

They are all mediocre, not great teams.

maybe the AL east?

Considering they would be third in that division, and havent had to play those teams, I think not.

Easily the best division in baseball

not even close

Top to bottom I think it's the best division in baseball and straight talent-wise I think it's catching up with the additions of Hudson, Beltran, Delgado, and Pedro. 3 of the 5 teams spend mountains of money and the other 2 are playing excellent ball with good young players. I don't see how you can say not even close.

You're ridiculous.

Don't look at record, look at quality of team, that's what people are arguing. The reason the division is so close is that all 5 teams beat up on each other not allowing one team to run away with the division. Talent wise, all of these teams are on par or better with any division leader in baseball, hell, you could make a case that the Phillies (the last place team) are a better team than many of the division leaders. You take any of these teams and put them in a division with a "doormat" like the D-Rays, Rockies, Royals, A's, Pirates, Giants, Mariners, Astros and Reds, letting them play that team 19 times, and they're right at the top.

2003 all over again

The Cavs won 42 games last year and missed the playoffs. :confused

well, right now the records aren't as strong, partially because they're not able to pad their records against a Devil Rays-type team. I'm just saying, I think any of the NL east teams could give the 1st-place O's a run for their money.

i just want to add that they have played againt the AL east this season, and that the marlins do play the rays 6 times a year.

Like those three wins the Marlins used to pad their record when they beat the D-Rays?
