June 7, 200521 yr I know this will get a big :plain from most of you but I thought this was interesting. Kerry's Yale Grades Similar to Bush's ?? ?? (June 7) - Sen. John F. Kerry's grade average at Yale University was virtually identical to President Bush's record there, despite repeated portrayals of Kerry as the more intellectual candidate during the 2004 presidential campaign. Kerry had a cumulative average of 76 and got four Ds his freshman year - in geology, two history courses and political science, The Boston Globe reported Tuesday. His grades improved with time, and he averaged an 81 his senior year and earned an 89 - his highest grade - in political science as a senior. ''I always told my dad that D stood for distinction,'' Kerry said in a written response to reporters' questions. He said he has previously acknowledged focusing more on learning to fly than studying. Under Yale's grading system in effect at the time, grades between 90 and 100 equaled an A, 80-89 a B, 70-79 a C, 60 to 69 a D, and anything below that was a failing grade. ?? By the Numbers? ?? ?? 89 Kerry's highest grade at Yale 88 Bush's highest grade at Yale 4 Number of Ds Kerry received in his freshman year 1 Number of Ds Bush received in his four undergrad years Source: AP? ?? In 1999, The New Yorker magazine published a transcript showing Bush had a cumulative grade average of 77 his first three years at Yale, and a similar average under a non-numerical rating system his senior year. Bush's highest grade at Yale was an 88 in anthropology, history and philosophy. He received one D in his four years, a 69 in astronomy, and improved his grades after his freshman year, the transcript showed. Kerry, a Democrat, previously declined to release the transcript, which was included in his Navy records. He gave the Navy permission to release the documents last month, the Globe reported. Kerry graduated from Yale in 1966, Bush in 1968.
June 7, 200521 yr I was going to hold back, but since you asked for it (and I'll probably get a :plain for it): Wars started: Bush: 2 (could it soon go up by 1?) Kerry: 0 And probably a more important stat: Wars resolved: Bush: 0/2 (0%) Kerry: N/A
June 7, 200521 yr Their could be another President Bush soon. 798877 We should just crown him king and let his heirs fight it out when he dies. You'd probably like that, eh?

June 7, 200521 yr Jeb has a good chance of becoming President some day. He has already said a million times that he won't run in 2008 though. I've heard some rumors that Collin Powell might be getting his head in the ring for the 2008 race. He would be a great President, has alot of experience: Secretary of Defense & Secretary of State. I think that alot of people wouldn't vote him though because he is African American, thats sad.
June 7, 200521 yr Ive got a more important stat: Terms elected to President Bush: 2 Kerry: 0 798796 oh oh...let me try being foolish. Has anyone seen that all star from Little Rock Bill Clinton's stats?? 2-0. Ive got his Fleer ultra rookie card from 1992! But the sabermetrics people would argue that since Bush didnt win by large margins in either election, his record is actually around .500. In reality, the best President to ever play the game is FDR because he won so many times. His stats are out of this world.

June 7, 200521 yr Moneyball, where is this information from? If it's any bit true it is going to be fun to counter certain liberals that lack 'ammunition' on Bush.

June 7, 200521 yr It's kind of pathetic. I wonder why Kerry would decide to release this now...what purpose could it possibly serve? As for Jeb, I don't think he'll ever be Pres. Too much dirt on him, not enough Jesus in him. And here's hoping we don't have another Bush in office for at least a decade because I can't help but think we'll be setting a pretty poor example for fledgling democracies around the world if we keep electing Bushes.
June 7, 200521 yr I agree with ya, I don't want Jeb in 08. I'm not even sure I want a Republican in 08, it's time to give the Dems the reigns.
June 7, 200521 yr Your college grades IMO really don't matter in terms of how effective you can run a country.
June 7, 200521 yr ... and FDR got gentleman C's at harvard. who cares? skeptical of powell running... i think his stock went down with the iraq war. if it turns out well by 2008, people will criticize him for not having supported it enough; if it goes badly, he'll get criticized for not resigning on principle. his image took a beating when bush marginalized him in the 1st term. people i'd like to see in 2008: john mccain evan bayh
June 8, 200521 yr It does not matter what grades they get. Albert Einstein got F's in school and we all know what kind of genious he was.
June 8, 200521 yr I really don't understand why this was released now...it's not exactly important. However, it does seem to be getting plenty of attention. The last thing this country needs is Jeb Bush as President...
June 8, 200521 yr This has no importance. It does not matter how smart they are. It matters how they defend and lead this great country.

The last thing this country needs is Jeb Bush as President... 799630 They released it now because they didn't want the 'Bush is dumber than Kerry' jokes to lose steam during the campaign. Because then people would have said, 'Bush is as smart/dumb as Kerry'

The religious right hates him now.

Iraq is a much better place than it was thanks to our President. Who is John Kerry now?

His military records were released too. And guess what? Some of those swift boat clowns actually gave him commondations along with numerous other ones.
June 8, 200521 yr McCain will certainly be destroyed by the religious right in any election, he's too much of a centrist for the Republican base. However, he's one of the few truely honorable men in Congress these days.
June 8, 200521 yr I think McCain would win if he could get the Republican nomination, or if he switched parties. At the very least, he'd have a very strong shot. He's got enough going for him to pick up those few extra votes that Kerry couldn't get. I don't think he'll ever run, though. He's not the healthiest of dudes, I just don't think he wants any part of it.
