I'm not convinced that's the best lineup for those 8 players. The double leadoff man is great in theory, but is more often a burden or excuse to piss away outs.

Lets put this in perspective. This is the last year (if he makes it) for McKeon. Lowell's contract is for 3 more years. It is obvious McKeon does not much to do with who the Marlins bring up to the majors. We have read comments from unnamed players about the constant line up shuffling, the benchings, blah, blah and blah. Lets take a wild guess who these players might be who complain to Beinfest and to the press ..................anyone bet it is Lowell, Pierre, Lieter. My guess is upper management sided with the players and thus you are stuck with this line up.

 

Personally, Lowell isnt Mr. Marlin and never will be. We should have traded him while he had value and put Miggy at third. We still have time though for this to occur, we just might not get what we really need in return.

I agree with you on two accounts. Yes I believe Lowell was one of the guys complaining and in reality looking for someone to blame for his hitting woes. Jack's shuffling the lineup was an easy out. Clearly Lowell has nothing left to bitch about and has to look to himself for his lack of performance.

 

Looking for a way to move Miggy to 3rd permanently makes a lot of sense. But it isn't going to be easy to move Lowell's contract as he is underperforming it badly.

I would make one last shuffle, move Lowell to 8th and shuffle the rest of the guys up so it would look like this:

the guy just aint gonna turn it around this year but his defense (last nite excluded) is needed in the field. His strikeout in the 9th proved he is a liability in the heart of the lineup

batting Lowell 5th (while he is struggling) is flushing the season down the toilet. Our best hitter is not getting any protection.

 

Why not move him down? If he improves, then you move him back to the 5th.

Either LoDuca or Encarnacion or even Cabrera behind Delgado will be a huge improvement.
