Walk- one base

When I say make the pitcher work, doesn't mean the guy has to walk.

Single>Walk

With a single you can drive in 2 runners, or atleast one. You can't do that with a walk, unless you have bases loaded, and you'll only drive in one run there.

What if there are runners on 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs, a good hitter up, and a bad hitter after--Why should the good hitter walk when he could get 2 RBI's and not have the inning end with bases loaded.

And who says the good hitters won't hit doubles, triples, or homers? Why are you assuming they'll only get a singles?

And why make a pitcher work when you see a pitch you could hit and drive in a few runners and get on base? Runs>Pitches

What's the end result of each?

:lol

Jackass.

First time it's first and third, do the fake third throw 1st move. It's crappy and never works, but at least it'll get em thinking.

In those situations you hit differently according to the count.

But overall.

Walk is as good as a base hit. No need to discourage it.

A double, triple, and homerun are ALWAYS better than a walk.

A single is only equal to a walk when bases are empty.

Thus, hit>walk, except for a single when bases are empty.

So overall, a hit is better than a walk, and you're an idiot.

And 7/13 hitters are taking as many pitches as they can, that's making the pitcher work enough.

Congrats both of you, you ruined a perfectly good thread.

let me respond to this by saying baseball is a unique sport

in football, the arizona cardinals are not going to beat the patriots

in basketball, atlanta is not gonna beat san antonio or phoenix or miami/det.

but in baseball, in any given day, any one team can beat another, so saying that a walk isn't as good as a hit with a good hitter because maybe theres a bad hitter after him, who's to say that at that given moment that kid doesn't close his eyes and swing and prays that he hits it and drives in all 3 runs? you can't...would u have said that aaron heilman would pitch a 1 hitter against us when we've owned him? absolutely not

The game cannot begin another inning after 8:15.....I like breaking up the order but I don't like putting easy outs at the top.

PS: a walk is only as good as a hit for the people who can't hit...I can't afford to play station to station baseball with my good kids....the good ones have to knock each other in....

EXACTLY-THANK YOU. :thumbup

Try and get the early lead, adjust my batting order a little bit, make the front a little stronger and the back a little weaker, and try and get the early lead, then waste time.lol.

Tell all the hitters on the team that no matter what the pitch, if the can't hit it out of the infield don't swing at it.

Pitchout the first, second, or third pitch of the at bats where their base stealers get on. Keep the pitch number changing, sometimes do it twice. After a pitchout have your pitchers attack the hitters with low fastballs where if contact is made it'll be on the ground and if the runners goes the pitch gets there fast enough where the catcher has a fighting chance to nail him.

Tell all the bad hitters that if they swing at any pitch outside of the strike zone they can't get on the field until they do 5 pushups for every ball they swung at, and then enforce it. These aren't 4 year olds and they can take it.

Do your guys know how to bunt? Take today and do an intensive session with the 4 bad hitters - get them bunting. Run sacrifices when you have runners on, make sure the better hitters get to hit with pressure on the pitcher instead of them. If there's a runner on third with less than 2 outs and a bad hitter up, suicide everytime. Get in the other team's heads, make them not know what to think. They'll make mental mistakes and you can take advantage.

Also, you can tell your pitchers every once in a while to change something in their delivery to the plate. It'll confuse the batters and they won't know how to react.

They get used to a certain delivery and if you change it they'll be like- "WTF?" after they see it and they won't be able to swing.

Since they only have 2 very good hitters, you should try walking them and not letting them hurt you.

Isn't that like giving triples to the 2 kids because he said they all run like crazy? If they are just going to swipe second and third, you're better off pitching to them.

807073

I doubt they could just steal secnd and third base like nothing. If the pitcher throws hard and makes pitch outs, and if the catcher doesn't make errors and proves he could make strong throws then they won't be stealing.

He's right, their essentially triples..

Well if anytime a runner gets on base they can automatically go to 3rd base then there's no way you could win. You have to stop that. That's your #1 problem. Work on it before the game.

well im hours from gametime....the lineup is set....the fielding is set......the spazs just cannot complain when they sit like 90% of the game.

Let us know how it turns out and what strategy you employed.

Try the hidden ball trick.

I always wondered why they don't try that in the majors...it would work. :)

806333

I think that it would be a balk

"Decieving the runner"

The Marlins successfully pulled the hidden ball trick last year

we lost 27-2.....we blew 1st and 2nd no outs in the 1st inning and the umpire blew a steal call and we gave up 2 runs in the 1st. Then it got ugly...they didnt even hit the ball that well...just through the holes.....they kept scoring and then the kids got violent on the sideline and the kids were wrestling on our sideline and then i almost got tossed by the umpire....good riddance to these kids....to think i actually thought we had a chance.
