Wait.. Choi can hit only fastballs? I thought I read a scout say he couldn't get around on a good fastball. Another said he was a mistake hitter. Another said his body frame made him awkward and slow. Others say he has all the tools, but needs to change his entire approach to the game.

In fairness to Choi he only has some 80 at-bats against lefties, which is a damn shame.

Actually, I think it is.

 

In the minors, he hit a good many off of southpaws. Hit .301 against southpaws in last full year at AAA.

 

Not that I do or don't endorse platooning him, it just further proves farmer_fran's previous statement. That too many are concerning themselves with what he can not do while ignoring that what he does has made him into a solid and productive ballplayer.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of the double. I remember that hit off a future hall of fame southpaw in the middle of an all-star first half has come up often in these discussions.

I just looked it up, he hit the home run off of lefty-specialist Brian Fuentes last year.

No. He hit one off of someone on the Rockies staff last year. First pitch homerun. I remember that like it was yesterday.

By the way, he hit another one yesterday. He has more homers than all but three Marlins in the span of 5 days.
