Posted June 19, 200519 yr Talk about a quick recovery.. I just peniciled him in to be out for the year. I guess since there was no structural damage, the only reason he was out was because of the swelling.. Anywho, good news for the Cubs. NEW YORK -- Chicago Cubs pitcher Mark Prior will throw on the side Sunday to test his right elbow, and may not need to make any Minor League rehab starts before he's activated. Prior threw about 60 pitches over four innings in a simulated game on Friday at Yankee Stadium. Because Prior has not missed much time, he could throw another simulated game and then be activated. Cubs pitching coach Admin Rothschild said Saturday that Prior's next step will be determined by how the right-hander's arm responds to the workload. Prior suffered a compressed fracture in his right elbow after being hit by a line drive May 27. Meanwhile, Kerry Wood will make his second rehab start on Sunday for Triple-A Iowa at Nashville. He threw 46 pitches last Tuesday in a rain-shortened outing in Des Moines, and will likely need a third start before he's activated from the disabled list. Wood was sidelined with a sprained right shoulder. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/new...t=.jsp&c_id=chc
June 19, 200519 yr Good to hear.. I just dont know if they are rushing him or not considering nit's the Cubs.. Won't matter much in the Central I believe but the return of Prior and Wood could help the Cubs aim for the Wild Card. I know I know the Cards/Cubs still play each other like 16 times head to head but that wont matter as we'll take care of business, lol.
June 19, 200519 yr The Cubs (for once) really dodged a bullet here considering how bad that play looked live (assuming he does indeed come back sucessfully soon here).
