wanks1212
From the Elias Sports Bureau, courtesy of ESPN Insider http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2099668 ? Luis Castillo started a four-run rally with a sixth-inning single against the Mets at Shea Stadium; that single extended his hitting streak in games at Shea to an even 30. The streak, which dates to Sept. 2, 2001, is the longest in the 42-year history of Shea, one of the current stadiums generally most favorable to pitchers (Shea, in its history, has seen only two other hitting streaks as long as 20 games: Willie Davis had a 23-game streak from 1966-69, and Edgardo Alfonzo had a 22-gamer while with the Mets in 1997). The last major-leaguer with a 30-game hitting streak at a particular ballpark as a visiting player was Steve Finley, who while playing for San Diego and Arizona from 1995-99 hit safely in 30 straight games at Coors Field. ? The Marlins' total of seven runs in their 7-3 win over the Mets were the most by any big-league team this season in a game in which it had no extra-base hits. Florida's little-ball attack included 11 singles, five walks, four stolen bases, three sacrifice bunts and a hit batsman.
