July 4, 200521 yr With only 2 1B and NINE (!) outfielders, I don't see how TLR can't start an OF in the DH spot.
July 4, 200521 yr ya know what.. I was thinking.. Pujols wont start.. Jones or Cab will be the DH.. Pujols will backup Lee.. Oh heck, I doubt it!
July 4, 200521 yr Author I can't see TLR taking Jones' defensive ability out of the equation by putting him in the DH spot. I think Miguel Cabrera and Carlos Lee should be the two NL DHs, while Bay/Jones/Alou are the 2nd wave of OFs.. with Luis Gonzalez as the situational lefty late in the game. All while having DLee and Pujols split the 1B time. Thoughts?
July 5, 200521 yr I don't know if you should bench someone like Pujols. His bat is EXTREMELY valuable in a game like this.
July 5, 200521 yr LaRussa defininatly wants to win this game, knowing the Cards just might end up in the WS again. Pujols will start as DH. Get replaced with Lee later on. Jones will NOT DH since he's a great fielder. Miggy, Jones, and Bay will come in after the starters.
