July 12, 200521 yr If we do pick Sheffield up somehow, does anyone think it would improve fan turnout at the games? I was just curious as to what the fans in Southern Florida think... Of course, anyone is welcome to contribute their thoughts.
July 12, 200521 yr Winning = fans. If they dont turn out to see Cabrera, Delgado, Willis, Beckett, etc...Sheff aint going to do it. I hear the same argument everytime. "9ner will bring more fans, etc!"
July 12, 200521 yr We all thought we'd have 30k+ everynight when we signed Delgado, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. I do think a lot of the Yankee bandwagon fans will start coming out to games if this deal does go down, and they probably won't even realize Sheff is a former Marlin :lol .
July 13, 200521 yr If we get sheffield we will have to open up the entire stadium to accommodate all of the people he would attract to the games. We would have 60,000+ people in the stadium every night with another 100,000 or so hanging outside the stadium hoping to get a glimpse of the immortal gary sheffield...

July 13, 200521 yr Sheff did just ground into a 6-4-3 for willis. I can imagine if he was here we would get a 10,000 fan boost just beacuse people want to hear the Vader intro music
July 13, 200521 yr This is what I'd imagine a Sheff trade would look like: AJ, Mota, Encarnacion and probably Stokes (the Yankees have expressed interest him in the past) for Sheff, Brown and Gordon and a ton of cash. It lets the Yankees get younger and send some headaches out of town. Question is, would you do it?
July 13, 200521 yr All the Sheffield trade talk has gone away ever since the Yankees worked their way back into the race. Sheff isn't going anywhere.

Sheff isn't going anywhere. 853243[/snapback] And their rotation isn't getting any better with their farm system so barren at the upper levels. For the Yankees to improve this year, they'll have to make a deal of need from the Major League roster. However, I agree that Sheff probably isn't going anywhere.
