While we haven't had many 30k crowds, we have surpassed last years amount of 20-29k games.

so are we doing good or bad? no no wait we suck, i mean are we doing worse or better?

I would be interested to see a side by side attendance figures between this many games last season and this season. Obviously coming off a World Championship helped those figures out a bit, but attendance should be atleast close to the point of last seasons.

Id like to see the numbers at the end of the year, during the stretch maybe the excitement will cause some bigger crowds, especially if we get on a roll. Nice to see the consistency though.

The Sports Network provides detailed attendance information for all teams in all 4 sports. Slam Canoe (http://www.canoe.ca/Slam/home.html) out of Canada used to do so, but stopped.

Through 49 dates, the Marlins have attracted 1,099,749 slightly up from 1,078,304 in 2004 (22,444 avg. up from 22,006 avg.)

 

Finally, the average MLB game attendance was 28,051 in 2003, 30,075 in 2004 (3rd highest ever), and is currently 30,839 through July 26, 2005 according to ESPN. Record average is 31,256 in 1994 and for a full season 30,964 in 1993. The Marlins average of 22,444 is way below the league average and right now we?re in 28th out of 30 teams in attendance, with only Kansas City and Tampa Bay below us, not the kind of neighborhood we want the Marlins associated with.

lol, that is so true, I go to some Marlins games that have 25,000-30,000 people and the place still looks empty, amazing how decieving a giant football stadium can be.

Looks like a good time to bring back this thread. I haven't updated the graphic but I have updated the attendance breakdowns.

 

Something interesting.

 

12 of the last 14 home game we've had 20K plus.

 

The night of home game 46 we were at 0% change from last season. 13 home games later we are up 5% on the year.

 

Total at this point last year: 1,282,304/21,734 per

2005 so far: 1,344,948/22,796 per

 

EDIT: At no point last year did we have 12 of 14 home games in which 20K+ attended. I'm sure it never happened during 2003 definitely not during 2002. I'm sure it hasn't happened in several years.

Those numbers are beyond pathetic.

 

Opening day is the only sellout, and we've yet to top 40K for a regular (not opening day) game. 20K is OK in June for an average team, but in August for a team right there in the playoff hunt...don't get me started.

I think they should not give so many games on TV, then we will see who the true fans are who want to come out and watch the games......
