Manny will not move now, but later.....

first here's a quote from the Boston Globe

One source close to Ramirez said the Florida Marlins and Texas Rangers also had called about Ramirez, but there did not appear to be activity on those fronts. The Sox talked with the Mariners about lefthanded closer Eddie Guardado, but the sides were not close to consummating a deal. Any deal for Marlins pitcher A.J. Burnett appeared dead, as the Marlins said they were holding onto the righthander, who threw eight shutout innings yesterday against the Nationals.

Ok now that you realize the Marlins are interested. Don't rule out a trade down here in the offseason. Yes Manny becomes a 10/5 guy at the end of the year, meaning he can veto any deal. Everyb ody assumes its going to be the NY Mets b/c he's from there, BUT did you know where Manny lives in the offseason? right here...did you know where he signed his deal with Boston? in a South Beach hotel. IMO this could turn out to be a similar trade to that of the Colorado deal a few years back with Lowell being the center piece. I understand the bad blood between the two teams might not let this happen...but the player(Manny) will be holding the cards, so this might happen....just something to keep in mind

Alright so we get Manny and then we have two players that equal 35 million of our payroll. Add Mike Lowell its three players for 43 million. That leaves probably about 22 million for the remaining 22 players on the roster. Good luck. Unless Boston wanted to give us a ton of money which I don't why they would when odds are the Mets would be willing to take his full salary on.

I guess ya never know, but I would put the odds at .0005%.

Supposedly the way it went down was the Red Sox were willing to do Manny for AJ, the Marlins said you have to take Lowell, and it went south from there.

Sure, here's the snippet:

They briefly talked to the Florida Marlins to see if it was possible to send Ramirez to the Marlins for starter A.J. Burnett, only to have the Marlins again insist that third baseman Mike Lowell be part any trade.

Well, if you trade Lowell and get a team to take his salary, and get the Red Sox to pay half of Manny's contract, it would about break even. If we are serious about Manny, he will probably be placed on waivers again this offseason. Maybe a deal where we say "hey, take half his pay, we'll take him off the waiver wire". I do like the lineup though:

CF Pierre

2B Castillo

LF Ramirez

1B Delgado

3B Cabrera

C Lo DUca

RF Hermida

SS Gonzalez

Manny did pinch hit today and proceeded to put the game winning single into centerfield....

No way in hell the Red Sox pay half of his salary for him to play on another team.

i believe he was just saying that would be the break even point

I don't think he was suggesting the red sox would actually do that

I hope
