August 13, 200521 yr Wed 8/3/05: Marlins lead after 6 Sat 8/6/05: Marlins lead after 5 Mon 8/8/05 game 1: Marlins lead after 7 Tur 8/11/05: Marlins lead after 7 Fri 8/12/05: Marlins fall despite 8IP 1R performance by Ace Now, sometimes you lose this kind of game, the Marlins do it far too often to be a playoff team.
August 13, 200521 yr I haven't really taken a long look at it, but it sure seems as if the Marlins have lost more games in the late innings than they've won....
August 13, 200521 yr well tommy and rich said during todays game that the marlins are last in the league in scoring runs from the 7th inning onwards.. this years toeam doesnt have the same confidnece the 03 team had, when losing at the end of close games people would produce whether it was mordy, castro, banks, lenny, whoever.
August 13, 200521 yr just survive until september, then we have all players back, and play all WC contenders... common fish,
August 13, 200521 yr Yep, much like last year this team isn't playing playoff caliber ball. We've been waiting all season for a nice run of wins, but each time it looks like they are getting their act together they do something like go to Colorado and lose a double header to the last place Rockies.
August 13, 200521 yr The Marlins are dead last in the league when it comes to scoring runs in Close and Late situations. I don't even think we have had a single walk-off victory. We have just wasted 2 stellar pitching performances and while our manager is not completely to blame he has been part of the problem. Last night was the perfect example, we had 2 guys on base with 2 outs and he pinch hits Easley for Treanor. Now, I understand pinch hitting for Treanor there, but we were only down a run we did not need a hoerun there we had a man in scoring position, Easley is hitting like .208 as a PH and Harris is hitting like .325 as a PH. Why would you not use your best option in that situation when we need a run so bad? Whatever though... I still love this team and I will continue to hope they pull it together somehow, it would be really nice to have Duca and Delgado back....
August 14, 200521 yr Yeah, I was surprised Easley got the call there. The game very likely could have gone into extras and stayed there for awhile given how the two teams were hitting. Using one of your few healthy bench players - and the most versatile - to pinch-hit early might have hurt us later.
