August 24, 200520 yr Whether your a Democrat or Republican, this is a sad day in the history of Hialeah. I work here in the Mayors office and I just left the conference. Everyone was chocked up, a very sad day. Julio Robaina R will likely replace him as he has Martinez' support. What are other Hialeah residents thoughts?

Stop being a stupid prick, Martinez saved a school from closing, put thousands of people in section 8 housing, rebuilt roads, expanded Okeechobee Road, made the city safer, and created dozens of parks. Hialeah has progressed alot in the last 5 years, but Martinez has been in power for over 20 years and his reign hasn't exactly been one to expedite progress.

For example, they are building a tunnel that goes under the railroad tracks. They also rebuilt the Hialeah fountain on Le Jeune Rd. It looks gorgeous now.

Fact is that Martinez has raised taxes every year while in office and the improvements have been slow to come. It isn't like Dade County and the State of Florida don't pour money into the area's schools, parks, roads, and canals. Martinez has recently become much more efficient in investing tax dollars. BTW, putting people into Section 8 housing is not a big move. The Federal Government offers that program to property owners who wish to have guaranteed income monthly for their properties.

Whatever, I dont care what you say because your opinion means nothing to me. You talk outta your ass 80% of time and have never lived a day in Hialeah, much less know what its like being poor. Notice even Republicanslove him, his approval rating is 68% in the 4th most conservative city in America, despite being very Democrat. August 24, 200520 yr No doubt people in Hialeah love him, but I just think he could have done more with all he has been given. It is your city, you should be proud of it. Went through the collapse of manufacturing and several airlines and came out stronger.
August 24, 200520 yr Cape get off your high horse and accept Raul Martinez has done a lot of good for the city. You obviously haven't been to Hialeah in a while. Myself and others see the day to day progress of the city firsthand. :thumbup I'll make a bold statement and say most of the roads in Hialeah are better than 70% of those throughout the county.
