Posted August 13, 200321 yr Hell Yes!!!!! Even if he did bet , he betted while he was coaching not while he was playing baseball!!!! Ban him from ever coaching again for all that i care !!! But put him in the hall of fame!! :marlins
August 13, 200321 yr Yes, He deserves it and worked hard to get all those hits but he should admit it. If he doesnt then it still doesnt matter. That shouldnt affect him going to the HOF. Thats Personal....
August 13, 200321 yr I hope he never gets in whether he admits it or not... It would be a disgrace to the Hall if Rose ever gets in. If he does ever get in, his plaque should not be put in the main hall. They should stick it in a closet or something. I mean, if you were a real Hall of Famer, would you want your plaque next to Pete Rose's?
August 13, 200321 yr Of course Rose should be in the Hall of Fame. It's like asking whether Ty Cobb or Lou Gehrig should be in there. He should have been inshrined years ago. I don't think he needs to go back to coaching, but he should certainly be in the Hall.
August 13, 200321 yr While I take personal offense to comparing Rose to Gehrig... :mischief How can you keep Pete Rose - the baseball player - out of the HOF? Yeah, sure he messed up as a manager. He was an idiot. He could be a terrible person for all I know or care. It doesn't change the fact that Charlie Hussle was one of the greatest players of all time and his greatness is only further substantiated by the fact that the Commissioner of Baseball *had* to swollow some pride to invite Rose to the 2000 All Star game to invite him onto the All-Century team. I compare this to LT being enshrined in Canton. He was a great football player and redefined the position of linebacker. He absolutely deserves his rightfull place in Canton - despit being a man with an addiction. Cocaine? Gambling? Both addictions - but both personal problems that should have no bearing on what they did on the field.
August 14, 200321 yr If O.J. is in the football HOF then why should rose not be in the baseball HOF? what did OJ do wrong?
August 14, 200321 yr what did OJ do wrong? he was the prime suspect of a homicide, and many thought he was guilty...
August 14, 200321 yr I think he should be allowed back into baseball and into the Hall Of Fame , He did what was told " Stay away from baseball for 14 years " and he did now he should be free , but hey that just me
August 14, 200321 yr he was the prime suspect of a homicide, and many thought he was guilty... regardless whether or not he was a prime suspect he was still acquitted of all charges. although i think he did it, he was still acquitted. so are saying that years down the road ray lewis shouldnt go to the hall because he was a suspect in a murder case even tohugh he was acquitted? thats like saying i sholdnt be invited into the hall with my legal problems from the past.
August 14, 200321 yr he was found guilty in another court though. In a civil suit. Civil Suits are trash You know who should be in the HOF that gets no attention because he is dead? Shoeless Joe Jackson. He did not rig the World Series, if he was trying to he damn went about it the wrong way. I believe he was either MVP or would have won MVP if the Sox had won the last game.
August 14, 200321 yr He should be in the Hall of Fame, but he should not be allowed back into baseball. If he admits that he bet on baseball, then that should be the end of the story. The lifetime ban still holds. He doesn't deserve to be let off any more than somebody would deserve to be let off for stealing a car just because they said "Sorry" and "showed remorse". The only thing keeping him out of the Hall of Fame is the Hall of Fame. They put that rule in just to keep people from voting Pete Rose in. The HOF and MLB are 2 seperate entities.
