September 14, 200520 yr Another nice move by McKeon. Moehler has pitched quite well lately. ROTATION SHIFT The Marlins will start Brian Moehler against the Phillies on Friday at Dolphins Stadium instead of Ismael Valdez. Sunday at Citizens Bank Park, Valdez gave up six runs on seven hits (one homer) in 21/3 innings. Part of the reason for the switch is Valdez's numbers against the Phillies. Dating to last season, he is 0-2 with a 15.63 ERA and a .469 opponents' batting average in two starts. Both were in Philadelphia's homer-friendly ballpark. Though Dolphins Stadium is tougher on power hitters, Valdez has served up five homers in his past 112/3 innings. Moehler has faced the Phillies three times (one start) this season and has allowed a .346 batting average, contributing to a 6.23 ERA. He has pitched well at home, logging a 3.66 ERA and allowing six homers in 782/3 innings. Link
September 14, 200520 yr Time to think about a four man rotation??? 945154[/snapback] Not yet...Willis and Beckett would be going in the Phillies series regardless, so no need to short them a day's rest when it wouldn't help substantially more. However, there is that off-day Monday, so McKeon may pull the trigger once we get into Shea...
September 15, 200520 yr I think a 2 men rotation is more likely LOL, AJ have been horrible, if we make the playoffs, I be thinking about pitching him 3rd. He probably will geet shelled by the Cardinals.
