Well guys I wish I came here with better news to report.

But I haven't. Last night my High School (Chi-Hi, aKa, Chippewa Falls High School) suffered a terrible loss. The schools marching band was in Whitewater, WI (40 miles east of Madison) when they were on their way back, they took 4 coach buses, and at about 2 A.M. CST, one bus was jacknifed by a semi-truck. At least 6 are dead. And at least 30 more are injured and in hospitals around the area between Eau Claire,WI and Minneapolis,MN and Rochester,MN.

Among the dead is one of my close friends.

Please keep all of the Chi-Hi Marching band and their families in your prayers.

Some "good news", I am also glad to report, that my close friend who was feared dead, is alive and suffered a broken leg, broken hip, severe concussion, facial disfigurations. So my report of a close friend dying was premature.

I am luckily not in band, but I play football. But the band director Doug Greenhalgh was killed in a very grusome manner that I'm sure Admin would rather I not divulge.

So when they release names, Doug Greenhalgh the band director is going to be among them.

Our backup MLB is in band had to recussitate some of the students.

Luckily NO STUDENTS have been killed.

As it stands now 1 bus driver (a friend of my grandfathers who does drive bus), the band director (Doug Greenhalgh), the Band Director's wife, their 11 year old granddaughter (who goes to the Chippewa Falls Middle School) and Mr. Greenhalgh's student teacher were those that were killed.

Now none of these names have been released yet, but will be in a matter of hours or at the latest, tomorrow.

29 others were injured, a few severely, most suffered cuts, scrapes, ankle & wrist injuries, etc.

Terrible tragedy. My prayers are with you and everyone at your school.

Man, that's horrible news. Prayers going out to your community, Phlub.

I hate to hear this terrible news, I will keep you and your community in my prayers. It is a blessing that your friend made it out alive.

Isn't that the truth.

My friend made it out alive, but definitely not unscathed. She has a long road ahead and has a lot of recovery left.

Wow... I'm really sorry to hear that. :(

Man this is horrible.

We went through something similar over the summer when my friend's father and several passengers were killed when his limo was struck by a drunk driver.

First there was the bus that caught fire in Texas... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9449949

Then there was the boat that capsized in upstate NY [where I scuba dive all the time] killing 20 senior citizens from northern Michigan. http://www.capitalnews9.com/content/ethan_...305&ArID=152043

Now this. If bad news truly comes in threes, it looks like we are due for some good news!

I'm very sorry about this, but I am glad that your friend managed to survive. My prayers are with you and those members of your community affected by this terrible tragedy.

my god how awful... so sorry to hear about this.

I heard about this on the news.

I'm so sorry for the loss.
