October 18, 200521 yr San Antonio Saints has a nice ring to it :mischief2. SAN ANTONIO San Antonio Mayor Phil Hardberger has reiterated his resolve to have the hurricane displaced New Orleans Saints remain in the Alamo City -- permanently. Hardberger was among the sellout crowd to watch the Saints lose to Atlanta yesterday in the Alamodome. The mayor told the San Antonio Express-News that Saints owner Tom Benson agreed to serious talks with him -- probably at the end of this season. Benson couldn't immediately be reached today for comment. A team spokesman declined comment. Texas Governor Rick Perry watched the game with Hardberger from Benson's suite. The governor agreed the Saints should relocate to San Antonio and is open to the state offering financial assistance. The Saints are under contract to play at the Katrina-damaged Louisiana Superdome through 2010. Certain provisions allow the team to opt out before a November 29th deadline. http://www.kristv.com/Global/story.asp?S=3991141&nav=Bsmj

October 19, 200521 yr the saints would still play second fiddle to the cowboys in san antonio. the texans are basically fifth fiddle behind the longhorns and aggies....hell tech may be ahead of the texans in terms of popularity.
October 19, 200521 yr Houston probably has more Titan fans then Texan fans. My girlfriend and her family are from Houston and they've rooted for the Titans since the Oilers moved there.
October 19, 200521 yr Tags and the owners will probably force his hand to LA/Mexico City. Im all for more of Mexico's barb wired and brickwalled security stadium.

October 19, 200521 yr Author Toronto would get an NFL team before Mexico City would. They already have the Toronto Argonauts. And your point is? It shows that an NFL team can and would be successful in a market like Toronto.
October 19, 200521 yr Toronto would get an NFL team before Mexico City would. Incorrect. The NFL would make bigger inroads having a team in Mexico. It'd be a team that represents all of Latin America and open up a huge market for football.
October 20, 200521 yr If the Saints stay in San Antonio 1. The Aints owner is a douchebag 2. The Mayor of SanAntonio is an inconsiderate :censored and should be :guillotine

Canadians already watch the NFL and have the CFL. I doubt Mexico has its own football league and having a team representing all of Latin America over representing Canada makes more sense. There are like 200 million people in Latin America as opposed to 50 million in Canada, of which I'm sure at least 20% or so already watch football.
