Posted October 19, 200519 yr Is this thing going to ever hit shelves? Any insight would be appreciated.
October 19, 200519 yr Something always told me this album would end up in the same boat as Chinese Democracy.
October 19, 200519 yr apparently from what ive read he is putting the ultimate hiphop cd together gathering about 50 beats for the album. its supposed to be the mother of all hiphop albums and he is taking his time for perfection. its tentative rls date was supposed to be Oct 2005 but that will prob be pushed back. ive been waiting for this album for years
October 19, 200519 yr Eh, he'll never achieve his goals if he's setting them that high, just way too much hype. Either way, I'll buy it. I'm not a rap fan but Dr. Dre could put out a kids album and I'd buy it.
October 19, 200519 yr so far, dre is the only main 90's west coast rapper that hasnt either died, gone soft, or just plain sucked. dre's last album was almost as good as the chronic, so i hope this will build on his legacy. i also heard plans that he was gonna cancel the detox, but w/e
October 20, 200519 yr Something always told me this album would end up in the same boat as Chinese Democracy. The amazing thing about that was Axl Rose fought tooth and nail with The Offspring to prevent them from using it as the name of their last album (later renamed Splinter) and the damn thing still hasn't come out. Oh well..
October 20, 200519 yr I read a while ago that he'd abandoned the Detox project altogether. that is what he said in March of 2004. As of 08/29/2005: According to reports, legendary hip hop/rap producer Dr. Dre's Detox -- the long-awaited follow up to 1999's The Chronic 2001 -- will finally hit stores shelves this October. The Detox project has been delayed for over two years now, causing many hip hop fans and -- even reps at Dre's label -- to be skeptical of the album's release date. At press time, Interscope officials tell sources that Detox isn't even on their official release schedule. The hold up, according to sources close to Dre, has been the producer's penchant for perfection. Dre has reportedly been entrenched in the studio with several collaborators to complete the Detox album. According to one source, the award-winning producer has submitted over 50 beats for the album and regularly tweaks his production. "Dre has very high standards," Mike Elizondo told Billboard. Bass-player Elizondo has worked on several projects with Dre, including Eminem, The Game and Xzibit albums, and is currently collaborating with Dre on Detox. "He wants to shock the world and put something out that no one would have ever thought possible from a hip-hop artist. He's definitely going to take his time and make sure it's right." Meanwhile, Dre has been busy at work with his other projects. He recently collaborated with Mary J. Blige on her latest release, which also features production from The Neptunes, Kanye West, and Swizz Beats. Look for the highly-anticipated Detox to hit stores in October... possibly.

Well it started off as a stupid little feud between Axl and Dexter Holland. Since GnR was taking so long to release the album, the Offspring came back and jumped on the name Chinese Democracy for the name of their new album. Well Axl took them to court and he won the right to (eventually) name GnR's new album C.D. You can read about it more here: http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/1470891/04...s_n_roses.jhtml

[/quote if Axl wasnt such a perfectionist trying to achieve something impossible it would have come out a long time ago ... but after that dreaded performance at the vma's or whateverit was a couple of years back, im glad that thing is still in the backburner
October 25, 200519 yr Probably just building up hype so more people will buy it when it does come out.
