Posted November 1, 200519 yr Mets declined RHP Braden Looper's $5.5 million club option for 2006. Looper should get some multiyear contract offers as a free agent. He could close for a lesser team or catch on as a setup man for a contender. Looper finished poorly last season, but he had a 3.23 ERA going into September. Oct. 31 - 6:04 pm et -Rotoworld I would like to see us offer Looper 2yrs/$6M to return. Looper has a great sinking fastball, just needs to improve his change up to be more effective. He'd be good in a setup role.
November 1, 200519 yr No thank you.....I want Looper closing for the Reds. No thank you. nah, i insist you can have him...really it would be our pleasure to let you have him :shifty :whistle
November 1, 200519 yr Well, you can never say never with the "brilliant" Reds management. *waits for the 6 million per year offer to Looper*

He'd be good in a setup role. As long as he passed the physical I'd sign him in a minute for two years/$6 million. Wouldn't think twice, make a similar offer to Jones and be done with it. Gives the guys coming up a chance to set a slightly slower pace and mature rather than be rushed. I can't think of two closer/setup guys signable for $6 million a year combined, unless you want Matt Mantei (OMG NO!!!), Embree (lmao) or Jose Mesa (too high risk/reward). Does anyone really trust Urbina (psychologically) would be here for two years? I wouldn't take the risk.
November 1, 200519 yr If Looper is in Florida, I want it to be while he's pitching against us so we can have comeback wins in the ninth inning.
November 1, 200519 yr He should close for the Yanks! Yanks go ahead a cut Rivera.. GIVE ME A BREAK! THIS GUY BETTER NOT COME BACK!! That is unless with sign him for what hes worth... LEAGUE MINIMUM!!
