The NFL is stupid...

DEFENSE: LB TEDY BRUSCHI, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

In his first game of 2005, New England linebacker Tedy Bruschi totaled 10 tackles to help the Patriots seize a 21-16 win against Buffalo. Bruschi became the first player in NFL history to return to the playing field after suffering a mild stroke. Six of his tackles were made within three yards of the line of scrimmage. With the win, New England (4-3) owns sole possession of first place in the AFC East. The 32-year-old linebacker raised his arms early in the game to energize New England's ?12th Man? and called signals in the huddle. Often called the ?heart and soul? of New England's defense, Bruschi had been working out and attending meetings regularly since the start of training camp.

In his 10th year from Arizona, this is the San Francisco native's fifth career Player of the Week award and his third honor in his past 14 games.

Bruschi 7 tackles 2 solo

Players that didn't win defensive player of the week:

Warren Sapp 2.5 sacks FF (that led to TD) 6 tackles 5 solo

Deltha O'Neal 2 INTs 4 tackles

Odell Thurman 2 INTs 3 tackles

It's really sickening how the NFL plays up the Patriots as the team everyone loves and how they're more about headlines than quality on the field.

Stupid-assshit!

Speaking from someone who isn't a fan of a division rival of the Patriots......

I see little argument against giving Bruschi DPOW

Somebody could have had 25 tackles and 3 int, and Bruschi still should get the award. He deserved it, but now he has to put the actual stats to get anymore.

He was not the best defensive player of the week. He was not the best defensive player on his team. What he did was impressive, but completely goes against what sports are about. Sports are merit-based. Not this stupid paternalistic crap.

Like Fritz is saying this is the NFL trying to make headlines...they have forced fed us the Patriots for a few years now...serioulsy though how does Bruschi win it this week

That was Odell or Deltha's award. Period.

Oh, well. Bengals aren't sexy enough yet.

Who won the one's voted on by fans?

While I doubt anyone in the league cares about these weekly awards, this is still total bulls***. If they want to give him Comeback Player of the Year, fine, but this is wrong.

It's ridiculous and it gives more of a reason for people to hate the Patriots...personally i hope they get ass raped monday night.

deserved it? since when do you deserve something for coming back from an illness.

hell i can name many players that have come back from major setbacks but you dont see people saying they deserve something just simply for suiting up and making it back.

i know, i know...it was a stroke, so we should all clamor and say OMG and give him the award.

did robert edwards or whatever his name (new england rookie rb) who nearly had to get his leg cut off win the player of the week award upon his return?

Yeah, when did these awards start meaning something?

I mean, it's always cool when a Bengal wins one, but in the grand scheme of things, they are meaningless.

f**k it I give up! I post in the Week 8 thread that the announcers were overracting to Bruschi and I get ripped. Today I post he deserves the award and i get ripped. That is the last time I try to avoid controversy!!

The only answer is for you to effectively end yourself.
