November 15, 200520 yr They had to get this done, and they did. Matsui is one of the scariest hitters in the AL to me, especially against my Sox.
November 15, 200520 yr Matsui is one of the biggest if not the biggest keys to that lineup. They had to re-sign him.
November 15, 200520 yr Author It's not like this is a big deal to the Yankees considering Brown and Williams came off the books this season and Posada and Sheffield come off the books next season.
November 16, 200520 yr This after all the Yankee fans I know say there's no way Matsui was coming back next year after that last game vs. the Angels. :mischief
November 16, 200520 yr This after all the Yankee fans I know say there's no way Matsui was coming back next year after that last game vs. the Angels. :mischief Bah - they weren't REAL Yankee fans! :mischief He's a corner outfielder who plays solid D [usually] with a decent arm and brings a .300 average to the plate. He hits over .470 with bases loaded and has a higher BA with men in RISP than with the bases empty. Of course, as Passion alluded to in his post, he hits .333 in Fenway Park. That alone is worth $$!
November 16, 200520 yr Very good news.... was worried that they may ditch him for Giles but it may turn out the two will be playing next to each other in the outfield
