Getting financially healthy by jettisoning overpaid, underacheiving players or letting free agents depart that command more than their worth, is absolutely the right thing to do.

Using the word "firesale" is inappropriate and wrong.

But then again why would we expect anything different from Carpozzi?

2003. I usually agree with you 99% of the time. But it seems like the Front Office can't do anything wrong in your opinion. . .

Firesale? bring it, I root for the team and not for the individual players.

Fresh, I'm puzzled by your post, I really am.

I was finding fault with Carpozzi's inflammatory choice of words, which I don't believe applies here, but certainly I respect your opinion and your right to disagree, and I do find fault with the FO and when I think they're wrong on some things. But generally, perhaps because I spent so many years signing so many paychecks, I suppose I do have a tendency to see things from the ownership side.

To me this is welcome, I embrace it. If more teams did this more often we wouldn't have the salaries we do now in the sport.

I know. It?s all wrong. By rights we shouldn?t even be here. But we are. It?s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn?t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the Marlins go back to the way it was when such a firesale had happened?

But in the end, it?s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.

Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn?t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

Your 2006 marlins after trades:

2B - Frodo Baggins

1B - Samwise Gamgee (Usually follows Frodo in any line-up)

SS - Gimli

LF - Aragorn (Acquired from the Rangers)

3B - Legolas (Don't be surprised if he uses the hidden ball trick with sleight of hand reflexes)

LF - Merry Brandybuck

RF - Pippen Took (Both Pippen and Merry have gained a few inches in size during the offseason)

C - Boromir (This guy can take a hit)

SP - Gandalf (Added a fireball that is tough to hit, blinding stuff)

Faramir and Elrond expected to make the bench

Bilbo Baggins replaces Joe Girardi as manager

With this line-up, expect the Marlins to get another RING

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Legolas and Aragorn may be traded by the break, if they don't think they have a good shot at the 'ring'

Turnover is necessary in sports, balanced salaries are required for teams on a budget. But for a small market team to get less than equal value in return through trade when dealing with one of their supposed "untouchable" players is simply unacceptable.

Miami is not a small market. They are a top 15 market. The small market myth of the Miami area is nothing mroe than a trumped up myth.
