Added bonus when going to see Kong

Featured Replies

From what I have read, along with going to see the new King Kong movie(which looks excellent by the way), the first showing of X-Men 3 trailor is going to be included in the previews.

That is almost as much incentive to go see Kong, although I probably already was.

King Kong with Jeff Bridges looking like the dude>King without Jeff Bridges looking like the dude.

This movie doesn't appeal to me. I'll catch the trailer at Rottentomatoes.com.

Comes out December 14th, right? They'll be losing a crapload of college students to that release date.

Hollywood Reporter.com: An orgy of FX that is hugely entertaining

Variagate.com: This is chemistry and visual achievement that will be talked about well after the last light is turned off at the Academy Awards.

Chud.com: Jackson again reminds us that he's a genius.

IGN.com: 3/5 Stars

Now Playing Magazine: Alongside the adrenalized rushes, Jackson and his colleagues locate the humor, affection and heartbreak in its big story.

Variety: What's up on screen is rarely short of staggering.

Rolling Stone: 4 Stars/4

Entertainment Weekly: A (On a A-F Grading Scale)

ComingSoon.net gave it a 6.5/10. Their main complaint was that it was just too long. That and Jack Black's character was miscast.

The X-Men 3 trailer is already online, by the way. They are actually showing more than I thought.

And the second review on that same site gave it a 9/10.

IGN gave a 3/5. They're not a real review site. They gave House of the Dead a 3/5. Which is perhaps one of the worst movies of all time.

Yeah, I just noticed that, it must have been added today.

All I know is, I don't feel like seeing a 3+ hour movie again in theaters. Titanic was bad enough, and Return of the King felt like it would never end, with all of those fadeouts.

King Kong is going to be awesome. About half the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes say it's either the best picture of the year, or the best of its genre ever.

This goes into my must see list with Syriana and Munich.

This brings up an interesting question. Do you have to see every good movie that comes out?

I like a certain type of movie, either with certain actors (hard to pass up a Vince Vaughn flick of any type) or ESPECIALLY certain directors (PT Anderson and Wes Anderson flicks will never go unseen in theatres). However, outside of that, it's not like I have to see every good movie that comes out.

Take Kong. Haven't seen it, don't want to see it. I still haven't seen Lord the Rings and nor do I want to (judging by reading the books in middle school; a little too dry for my tastes). It's just not imperative that I see EVERY single good movie that comes out, regardless of what others think.

So, are you one who has to see everything good or you can just see what you want?

I assume you're talking to me.

Yeah, I pretty much limit my movie-going to well-reviewed movies. I figure I have time to get to about 10 movies a year, and since I generally agree with the reviews, I try to limit myself to movies that I think I'll like. I rarely see a preview and go "OMG, I have to see that!" You can't tell anything from the previews. I would argue that my method of choosing films is much more sensible than choosing by previews because if the preview-makers can't find a minute's worth of film to go into making a good preview, then the movie's makers are in serious trouble.

Sure you don't have to see every movie that comes out. But if you don't see Lord of the Rings, I think that's a huge mistake, and you're missing out on a fantastic movie.

My thoughts.

Hmmmm... I meant in the if someone says it's good and you "have to see it" do you see it, sense.

Meh, Lord of the Rings I can do without, thanks.

There are plenty of well-reviewed movies that I have no interest in.

But if I keep reading that a movie is a POS, I tend to lose all interest.
