August 26, 200322 yr The New York Yankees announced today that they have reinstated left-handed pitcher Gabe White from the 15-day disabled list and added left-handed pitcher Felix Heredia to their 25-man roster. To make room for White and Heredia on the roster,the Yankees optioned right-handed pitcher Jeff Weaver to Class-A Tampa (FSL) and designated left-handed pitcher Jesse Orosco for assignment. White, 31, was acquired from the Cincinnati Reds on July 26 for a player to be named later. He was 3-0 with a 3.93 ERA in 34 games with the Reds this season, holding left-handed batters to a .241 batting average against before being placed on the disabled list on June 21 with a strained left groin. In 2002, White went 6-1 with a 2.98 ERA in 62 relief appearances with the Reds. He held left-handed hitters to a .202 batting average while posting a 0.68 ERA on the road. Heredia, 28, was claimed off waivers on Monday (8/25) from Cincinnati. He posted a 5-2 record with a 3.00 ERA in a team-leading 57 relief appearances for the Cincinnati Reds this season. In his last 22 games, he recorded a 2.38 ERA (22.2 IP, 6 ER), holding opposing hitters to a .205 batting average (16-for-78) while striking out 11. Heredia recorded the most strikeouts in a game by a Reds' reliever in 2003, striking out five batters in 3.0 innings vs. the Yankees on 6/5. In his career, he has held left-handed batters to a .220 batting average (140-for-636). In 26 games (23 starts) with the Yankees this season, Weaver posted a 7-9 record with a 5.85 ERA. He was acquired by the Yankees on July 5, 2002 from the Oakland Athletics for LHP Ted Lilly, RHP Jason Arnold and OF John-Ford Griffin (was acquired by the A's from Detroit for 1b Carlos Pena, RHP Franklin German and a player to be named later). Orosco, 46, became the oldest Yankee player to make his debut on July 25 at Boston, after being acquired from the San Diego Padres on July 22 for a player to be named later. In 15 relief appearances with the Yankees, he posted a record of 0-0 with a 10.38 ERA (4.1 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 6 BB, 4 K). wow

He is still young though. If I were a team like the Orioles I would take a chance on him.

August 31, 200322 yr Weaver deserved to be sent to A ball. He's not only a bad pitcher this year, but a grade A a$$hole. Did anybody see his reaction when Hammond blew the 2-0 lead against the red sox a while back when Weaver was taken out? It was a lefty lefty matchup and Hammond replaced him, its not like some scrub who doesnt know what he's doing. Weaver was cursing at hammond from the dugout and as pissed off as if the world had ended. I think that was the last straw. New York fans were really pissed after seeing that. Also, somebody put Weaver up on Ebay for sale lol, I think the auction ended up at 10 bucks or something.
